Have you tried getting with friends/guildies and doing a bunch together? Alternatively, there are people who do Hero point trains, where they lead whoever shows up to a series of hero points on 3 maps. If you’re in NA servers, contact Denouement.6098. He had a group of about 80 people doing hero points yesterday after reset. I think they are doing one next Wednesday.
ANet may give it to you.
I need only a few Hero Challenges in Tyria, they’re scattered and I need to Google a guide to find them. Meh. The rest are in the Heart of Thorns areas and I need to grind Glider, Mushroom Hopping, and Exalted to:
-Reach the Hero Challenges
-Continue the Story
-Get to many of the Events
BLAH, I REALLY don’t want to grind all this stuff. I’m sitting in my Starting Area just spacing out.

Yeah, I guess so. I have 9 level 80s that I’ve gotten elites on.
ANet may give it to you.
Did you get Skill points from PvP or something? I’ve seen people recommend that…
(edited by Aediph.2873)
No, you can only gain levels via tomes in PvP.
You can get hero points via WvW, though. Every time you gain a WvW rank, you get a Proof of Heroics, and you can either trade 1 to unlock a random core hero point, or 10 to unlock a random Maguuma hero point.

No, I got all of the hero points by leveling to 80 and by doing Hero points in PvE.
I think it’s WvW that you can get hero points from. You level enough and get tokens to turn into a NPC which buys you a random hero point, either one point or ten depending on which region you buy it from and the number of rewards (not sure of the exact details but it’s that or similar).

Ok, so find some NPC to turn how much I’ve leveled in WvW into Tokens… Something about rewards. Guessing this is all PvP related since it’s World vs World?
BLAH, pvp….
From what I understand so far, and how I don’t care for PvP, I estimate that I’ll get all my Elite skills for PvE by the end of this year. Woooo so fun. (sarcasm)

You only have 46 skill points left? That’s five HoT hero challenges. Between Verdant Brink and Auric Basin there are five challenges you can easily get to and do without needing anymore more than one rank in gliding mastery.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Ancient_Tree (drop down, use glider to try and land on top of the hero challenge, away from the poison field and mobs, commune)
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Nightthistle_Blossom (drop down, use glider to avoid going splat, trigger to fight one vet and four regular mobs, easy solo)
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Nuhoch_Alchemical_Energy (drop down, use glider to avoid going splat, commune)
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Wyvern_Nesting_Grounds (has tons of mobs here, but the mobs all despawn after the legendary wyvern event next to it is completed, so that’s your window to commune with it)
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Suspicious_Orichalcum (run up, trigger champ fight, usually other people nearby to help)

Thanks for posting these! I’ll take a look at them and see if I’ve done them yet!
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Ancient_Tree: Got it!
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Nightthistle_Blossom: Where the hell is The Tangle in Verdant Brink? God I hate navigating through this place, it’s like Jump Puzzles galore in here. Wait, where even the hell is the Creeping Crevasse?! Guessing it’s in one of these two undiscovered areas that I haven’t figured out how to enter yet… Great (sarcasm)
Edit: Yep, it was an undiscovered location. Got it!

46 more hero points means you just need 5 hero challenge from the HOT maps. That’s like.. 10 minute work with just Gliding basic? Well, probably more if you need to grind Gliding mastery, but from experience the first mastery line is rather fast. Prolly around one VB day outpost meta.
I would suggest taxiing to a VB map that is doing the meta and do it with people. Once you get gliding basics mastery you can get the commune HP’s in VB easily.
Good list from above.
I’d add these easy ones as well
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Ancient_Fighting_Pit (only walking required from shrouded ruins, you’ll pass it if you do the pale reaver meta)
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Abyssal_Depths (drop and glide to the tree nearby and walk on its roots)
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Cliffside_Ruins (drop and glide from just above it. may take a few tries without Updraft)
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Pact_Airship_Wreckage (Jump on top of the nearby roots and glide over. may need good positioning for the initial glide)
You can refer to http://dulfy.net/2015/10/25/gw2-verdant-brinks-hero-points-guide/ for details how to get to each one.

Thanks zakuruchi for the added list and the guide!
Edit: Oh there’s that kitten ed Creeping Crevasse! I still need to discover it on my map….
One more Hero Challenge!

Wow that took way less time since the Hero Challenges for HoT places give 10 Skill Points each! Thank you Pandaman and Zakuruchi

When released I had a similar complaint. I bought the expansion to play as a new specialization, however found that I had to almost complete the expansion in order to get enough hero points to get my specialization complete. By that time I had little left to do of interest. Was very disappointed with this style of implementation.
Not sure why such a problem. I leveled a new character all the way up to 80 using tomes, then went and got enough for the elites in Maguuma after…what….12 or 13 HPs. Most in VB…some in AB…and a couple right at the beginning of TD.
You don’t have to do the story to explore Mag. Nor do you have to do the meta. Just follow Dulfy’s guide and done.

I thought it would be a chore to unlock my Herald, but it didn’t take too long at all between WvW, sniping easy points in old Tyria and grabbing the easy VB and AB points.
