Just wondering if we will get a reset of points when Heart of Thorns goes live, as its been speculated the cost for elite spec could be quite high.

My main Character (At the moment has 294 points)

My second has only 18 points

My Third has 19 points

So was wondering if a reset will be done to allow people to utilise the new Spec right away

We got the reset already. Won’t be another one.

I have only joined 40 days ago but I have never logged on and seen all my Hero points reset? Was it before the last 2 months?

• edit I asked in game and the 6 players who answered in map chat lions arch havent heard of any reset yet

From what I have read there that was not a Hero point reset as much as a change of the old system used versus the new system implemented :

Hero points and Spirit Shards
Hero points and spirit shards represent an updated version of the previous skill point system

Base attributes now increase at every level from 2 to 10 and every even level from 12 to 80.

Hero points are now earned every odd level from 11 to 80. A total of 398 points are earned through levelling

So Im hopeful The Devs will allow us either

1: do a reset when HOT goes live to allow us to use the points in the new Elite spec
2: Some sort of 300/500 gem Hero point reset thing in the Gem Store

They want people to be on a level footing for building characters from day 1. That means the chances of bypassing are fairly close to zero. We are going to have to find the way to get elites in game after release anyway, it won’t be open until your character finds it from what I understand.

I have to agree with Yargesh on this. I seriously doubt there’ll be a reset.

The purpose of the Hero Point system is that each spending of points is permanent per character.

While the implementation of the Hero Point system wasn’t touted as a ‘reset’, in practice that’s exactly what it was. We have known that Elite Specs would cost hero points since before the Hero Point update, if you wanted to save up for an elite spec you could’ve done so from the moment you created a character.

All of the content released by HoT isn’t supposed to be immediately accessible, especially something termed elite specialization.

Since the hero points got implemented, there isn’t really a sense of there being something to reset. You can only get them through leveling to 80 and doing hero challenges, so there’s a finite number of them you can get (a little over 600 at present) – but on the other hand, you can only spend them on training, and at the moment you can have trained everything and still have over 200 to spare.

Unless ArenaNet decides to get really greedy about getting people to buy character slots for alts, it should always be possible to unlock all skills on a character, so if you want to have a store of hero points ready for your alts, then your best bet is to go around Tyria doing the hero challenges.
