Guild Wars 2

Since HoT is a “for cost” expansion, which I don’t mind at all, and the original game has been out long enough that your 5 Character slots could already be completely filled with L80’s, will we at least receive an extra slot to have the option of playing the revenant?

I don’t begrudge A-net making money, but it would seem a trifle harsh to have to buy the expansion, and then either drop a character or then also have to buy gems to get an additional Character slot open.

Apparently all of the GW1 expansions which added new classes also included another character slot (or more) so I suppose its certainly possible and perhaps even likely.

In GW1, with each release of a campaign all accounts that purchased it were given character slots equal to the number of new classes added (2 in GW1 per campaign). So honestly I would be very surprised if we aren’t given one (only if you buy the expansion though).

Little clarification here. The GW1 expansion, Eye of the North, did NOT add new character slots. The stand alone campaigns(Proph, Factions, and Nightfall) added 2 character slots. Seeing as how this is an expansion and not a stand alone campaign I’m guessing no extra character slot. I would like it if they added an additional one but I prefer to err on the side of caution.

eye of the north also did not add any professions. but yeah, it would be nice, but don’t know at this point.

Imo you cant really draw any conclusions on how Heart Of Thorns will handle it based on Guild Wars 1. On the one side, you may say ‘no standalone = no slot’, on the other hand ‘new class = slot’.

My bet is that it will come with a character slot, but you will be paying for it. My guess is that the expansion price will effectively have a character slot built into it. When we start to see how much content there actually is people will start considering the likely price and my guess is it will be $10 more than the many think it is worth.
