I never thought I’m gonna write thing like this but here it is
I like this game a lot. I kitten lot!
Playing for like 3 years. I was hyped about new expansion. And it’s really good… was at the start.
Okay, yeah, it feels hard after original GW2 but still I kinda like it.
But day after day playing it I like it less and less.
First of all, my game time depends from ANOTHER people. I can’t get my bladed armor because there’re not enough of people or someone is doing something wrong. Also, I often play on nights, so there’re even less people. What am I supposed to do?
Second, grinding. It was really to fun to do map events first ~5 times. But more I do it again – more I hate it. Now I want to do my Dark Harvest, have like 11\14 thingies for it, okay, I spent like 4 hours on Smokescales, spent duuno_how_much_time on mastery levels. And now, I need even more, More, MORE, MMOOOAAARRRR grinding to have Exalted Gathering, or something like that.
And again, what am I supposed to do? Grind spiders? Grind that kitten events again?
And again, it depends on other people.
With this Wintersday there’re even less people.

I just dunno what to do. It hurts me. My favourite game becomes most hated one.
I like this game, I want to play this game, but I can’t… I don’t know how much more I will do that over and over again.

So, really, what am I supposed to do?

P.S. I started to do Fractals everyday, just for fun. It is only one thing that keeps me playing.

P.S. I started to play this game because of it’s whole atmosphere, you know. It wasn’t based on fast leveling and doing raids or something, it was based on exploring, having fun, doing dungeons, fractals, jumping puzzles, etc., etc.
I could just run through some locations, alone, just doing funny events, hearts…
And now I need kitten lot of kitten people to kitten grind a kitten amount of kitten experience, Jesus kitten Christ.

Tl:DR I agree and it starts to feel really grindy getting all the masteries leveled and their points. The answer to everything is do more events and do adventures.

Yeah I’m starting to agree with you. I started playing when Factions was released way back when and this is the worst its been for a long time.

When I first started playing HoT I was thinking the people on the forum colaining about masteries were just whiners as I got my gliding and legendary crafting to max by just running around doing new events. Now I want to create Glints Bastion needing to have stealth detection and exalted mastery. Two tracks I did pretty much nothing on because they are honestly really useless.

And this is where it starts to feel bad as I need about 7mil XP for Exalted mastery maxing and about 2-3mil more for the Stealth detection. The solution for this? Events, events events. There are 4 track each needing about 8mil or so, 8*4 = 32mil XP pretty much only doing events.

All I am supposed to do is to replay the same events over and over again. They got really boring and I noticed I have barely been in the HoT maps the last 4 weeks or so as I’ve seen and done everything except gotten my masteries maxed.

Fractals, Raid and PvP are just so much more fun. Older content is more fun and has more value when one comes back to it than HoT maps.

With LS3 better make up with a new map. Give me a more meaningful way of getting XP instead of “escort the dolyak in DS 30more times”. Why does my gliding become better if I do that event 30 time?

For HoT experience? Run through the adventures each day. If you can manage getting gold on most of them, it’s worth around 700k experience in about an hour.

Stay in one place too long . Doing the same thing over and over will always hurt your brain. Varies your source of xp will help.

Exploring give xp . Meta event give xp. Gathering give xp. Adventure give xp. Hero point champ give daily xp. Killing stuff give xp. If you want more use xp booster,you can buy it with laurel or open wvw daily chest.

Million xp look scary. But it’s not horrible.

Doing daily adventures will max your masteries in a few months. This will take 45-60 mins /day
There is no grind in this game. You make it grindy. I’m at 2/6 HoT masteries, I’m in no rush, I have fun with events, I run a few adventures, exp piles up.
Again, the only grind in gw2 is the one players bring with them. Spend 15 mins a day in HoT, and I guarantee, that you’’ll max out your masteries 1 year before HoT is going to be obsolete and some new expansion will take its place.
You want to rush through long-term stuff, stuff that you’re [not] supposed to get very fast. Then you call it a grind. It doesn’t work like this

The adventures are nothing more than mini arcade games. I like many of those kinds of games, so I find the adventures fun. May not be your thing, but I do them sometimes just to enjoy them.

I love the fallen masks one, for example.

I feel that adventures are by far the most fun addition to this game(I’d say gliding but gliding is included in adventures :X)
They’re so fun, they’re so short, you can always resart one whenever you feel like, their rewards are very good(getting ~55k exp and 3 chests for doing a 2 min gold adventure is very welcomed)
Me and my whole guild have had a blast doing them since release, and we still have fun, sometimes few members doing the same stuff at the same time to see who gets the better score. I really hope we see more in the future updates
