Currently in my country, boxed copies of Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns has been available for 1,999php or $39.96 since release from retailers such as Datablitz. With the new fixed price of $29.99 for the base game and the expansion bundle, is there any chance that the boxed copies will also reflect this price?

The pricing of boxed copies is up to the retailer in question, not anet.

I’m sure they will adjust the recommended retail price, btw, and retailers will discount when they become aware of the difference. If you really want to speed that along, consider providing feedback to their corporate offices that the game is cheaper online, but you wanted to support them…

They might, I say that because currently the Gamestop web site in the US shows digital download of $29.99 and the boxed copy for $24.97, but like tanner said its usually up to the retailer.

Retailers have a hard time getting the prices right. They’ve been known to offer games before they’ve been officially released, old versions that are no longer supposed to be officially available, and often take time to adjust to new prices.

Theoretically, this should be less common in the digital age. But it turns out that it’s sometimes worse: the delays are often due to software that isn’t setup to deal with uncertainty and humans who misunderstand instructions that have been passed through many others before reaching their desk.
