Q:

Hiya,
I just wanted to provide some feedback on my experience with the beta
I’ll start with the revanant. The class itself not only looks amazing it plays amazing, I’m a huge fan of the Shiro legend, I think the way the skills work it really does make you feel like you’re playing a class that is meant to be quick with high damage outputs. Although I do wish the skills may be slowed down a little bit in relation to animation, because it’s a bit harder to see the animations when there are large groups of people in the events and I really like to see my character moving through the mists and stabbing through a group of monsters (AWESOME) so yeah that’s just my opinion.
I saw someone complaining about energy usage though I think with the Shiro legend it seems to work pretty well, although some skills do cost a bit of energy but it wasn’t reallt 100% noticeable to me anyway. By the way I’m a dps maniac it’s always been my playstyle so if anyone found a very hard hitting rev build I’d love to hear it. Personally I think the armor skin looks really nice for the revs I hope this will be released, along with those awesome looking lightning sword thingies which were used in the Points of Interest when showing the Shiro legend.
I’m sorry if my feedback regarding the revanant isn’t really detailed, I didn’t get that much time to play in all honesty.
As for the map I think it’s really awesome! a bit confusing for me but awesome! I’m sure a lot of people said the event’s were buggy etc but I think that’s to be expected during beta. Personally I enjoyed the event’s I think the story arch with Rytlock’s return was seriously cool I really wasn’t expecting him to pop up like that so well done there!
The gliding was also really nice and I think that it’ll be hugely used throughout the expansion I think it’s great that you have the need to control it etc, most games have that flying mount where they can just go afk which seems really boring to me. Not to mention the glider saved me from a lot of near deaths when I kept rolling of the side of a cliff xD I didn’t get to try the jumping mushroom thingies though unfortunately but I am curious to see how they help.
One thing though I do find the grinding for masteries to be a little slow, just a little..but that is my opinion. I’m just wondering if it will affect progress especially for casual players, because I think you can only level one at a time? so If I was to do gliding while my friend does the mushroom thing would it affect our progression, because we’d be able to access parts of the map our friends cannot? will the gliding/jumping etc allow access to areas which the other doesn’t?
Now I see a lot of players especially veteran complaining about the cost of the expansion on facebook and so forth and to be honest I think the price is well and truly suitable for the game. However I noticed people still complain with the new incentives eg the extra char slots instead of 1 now 2? I think it was. Anyway what I was thinking is a lot of players probably wouldn’t want to start off at level 1 trying to level their revanants so they can play in the new areas while their friends are already progressing through leaving them behind. Especially considering they may have to play in the old map again, which I’m sure a lot of veteran players would find annoying perhaps even casual ones. So what I was thinking is that one free level 80 character could be provided to the original game players (veteran, casual an so forth) that way they can choose whatever profession they want and immediately start of in the new map and progress through with their friends, probably a bad suggestion but it was just an idea.
as for new players I don’t think the free 80 is necessary because most of them wouldn’t know how to play too well in the beginning and then they would be able to see all of the beauty in the old content which I’m sure is what the Anet team want’s players to see.
So anyways yeah let me know what you think about that!
This pretty much ends my feedback again I apologise it isn’t really detailed juggling uni work and trying to get some fun in is really hard hahaha.
But my overall experience with the beta was great, so thank you Anet keep up the good work! Don’t worry about all the hate messages and so forth most of these people don’t realise the time and effort that goes into a game like this one.
Regards,
Mr blood
