So I have 4 beta character slots and it lets me create a character at lvl1 and I can see new areas on the map. Isn’t it suppose to work only on bwe’s ? Does that mean I can make a character any time, level it to 80 and go explore new zones?

If the answer is no, how does it actually work, do we get lvl 80 character on beta weekends or do we have to level it from scratch in those few available days? What about gear?

Betas are announced ahead of time and for a specific period of time such as noon Friday to noon Monday, Pacific Time. When the beta starts, those slots become available to make a level 80 beta char that comes with boxes of exotic armor, weapons, runes, insignias and level 80 food. Those chars will also have access to part of a new expansion map.

At this time the game may possibly allow you to make chars in those slots when there is no beta but you will not be allowed to keep them. The chars in those slots may be deleted by the game at any time and after the last beta those slots will be removed.

When you create a beta char during a beta the game takes a “snapshot”, a copy, of your bank. Any items and consumables in the copied version can be freely used up and it doesn’t affect your non beta bank. You will not have access to the trading post and will not be allowed to keep any gold or items earned while playing. Any transmutation charges or makeover kits are copied also so you can use those on your beta char without using up the original.

If you have ascended gear, you can put those in the bank for a copy to be made and then used by the beta char. Your non beta chars can go to the bank and pull the originals out and use them also.

And you can’t open the Guild panel and represent any guild during Beta test when you’re using your beta character.

if you have one or more free character slots and you try to create a new character on one of the beta slots, it will actually use one of your regular slots instead.
