Hello everybody, I would say one thing. I think those that have purchased the expansion after the release have the right for get a free character slot expansion as the others that have pre-purchased it, because they have spent money for this game as the others.

I am not the type who cares much about what others get or if others get more than me but the way you say it in a demanding way seems almost rude.

The idea behind the pre-purchase is to trust the company and give your money before seeing the product for some bonuses or perks.
Many people spent their money and had no idea what will they get and that char slot can be considered the bonus for that.

Actually, I think that people who bought the expansion should get at least one char slot. Otherwise it’s double charging. Once for the expansion and again for the char slot for the new profession that comes with it. I can see a company wanting money, but there is a time to ask for payments and a time to be generous to keep customers happy.

Gotta agree with the above lol, people who either had faith in the company or wanted the game either way pre-purchased and got rewarded for it, seeing as it was a pre-purchase reward after all just like the other perks such as the skins and guild hall decorations. No reason to take a pre-purchase reward and just give it away to everyone, kinda defeats the purpose lol.

It wasn’t initially a prepurchase reward for the basic package. It was a prepurchase reward added after people had a major fit about it. So major it hit gaming magazines. There was a long thread before the expansion was available to buy with people begging ANet to give a char slot. A request which they ignored for the basic, and it turned around and bit them.

The strength of the reaction shows people felt that a char slot with purchase was something that should be included as otherwise it’s double charging.

Looking at the purchase website the deluxe and ultimate versions still have the char slots.

The only thing missing is the veteran slot for those whose accounts were created before Jan 23rd.

Purchase the expansion, get a char slot, this can still happen.

As a non-veteran, I pre-purchased and did not get a char slot. My bad for misunderstanding the offer….

So, the “veterans” that buy HoT after the release can get the extra character slot?
