And is this new WvW map a legit boarderland were we fight for server points, or will it be another karmatrain map were upscalers can level there characters? I like WvW most + I don’t want to make a revenant, so can anyone please explain to me what the expansion have to offer to a guy like me? Flame wars need to stop i can see. People (customers) voicing the opinion on thier product shouldn’t stop whether good or bad.
There is a difference between constructive criticism and people just start raging and demanding things. And we all knows the post on forum and reddit are which one.

the maps if i read right you be able to play with out the exspansion but as far as if you making a revant you need to buy the xpac

no u are missing the point entirely. I dont mind paying 50$. its a big price for an expansion, but thats not the point! the point is that people that played the game for 3 years and have supported anet during that time, get nothing and by nothing i mean we buy the expansion and need to spend an extra 10$ on top of that to get a revenant. meanwhile a new player gets the basegame with it for free. great deal for them, but it does feel like anet is completely ignoring us, evn mocking us or worse trying to get rid of us as we are not worth getting a fair deal for hot.
yes i dont know what hot brings on top of what we already get, but I dont care because i have not seen and expansion that only comes as a bundle of which u only get 1 part of if u already own the game.thats why people are mad. 50$ is not the problem, the way veterans are treated is a big massive problem and especially the people that just bought the core game are being kicked in the face too! instead of just seeing something your way, try to understand where those people are coming from.

I am complaining about the part of the rage train that only cries because of that one reason.
I case you didn’t get it yet: the rage train consists of
-unfair FAQ change for new players (100% legit)
-disappointed veterans (legit but not a reason for such a huge flamewar imo, simple solution: character slots for everyone)
-people crying about newbies getting the better deal (not legit)
-people simply trying to gain as much profit as possible out of the flamewar by comparing non existent content to other games (100% NOT legit)
Unfortunatly all of them get mixed up.
I write something about the people who only flame because of the money and someone like you comes around the corner defending his point, that it’s not about the money because you are a disappointed veteran.
Nothing against you. You have the right to do so but these entirely different groups make the overall discussuion extremly complex because the different parties within the rage train also stand against each other.
In the end really all they have to do is
a) give everyone a free character slot and leave everything else like it is
and b) be more transparent to people who bought the game only because of the FAQ within…lets say the last 6 months and just give them enaugh tomes of knowledge to get their chars up to the point they were as well as some gold in exchange for the value of their current state.
This would satisfy everyone who feels treated unfair and everyone who thinks it’s about money has to come over it and let ANet deliver content before they judge.
And what about the vets that dont need a character slot but still want to be compensated aint 800 gems better so you can buy what you want.

It’s not about entitlement, it’s about the players wanting a better deal and expressing that opinion to A-net (customer to the business) so that they can potentially offer a better deal. The portion of the player base asking and the reasons why are no relevant since it’s not an in-game but real world issue.
It’s also a time sensative issue I.E I want the deluxe version + the preorder bonus + The use of that free vanilla account , but feel 75e is not worth it. But to get the preorder items the issue would need to be resolved prior to the games release.
So it’s not just a simple case of “don’t buy it then”.

Yeah, the expansion is creating a virtual paywall between HoT/base game, so people kinda feel under pressure to get it. Part of the reason for the uproar.
It’s ironic, because the ‘get the base game free!’ deal was supposed to make sure that didn’t happen.
It’s my belief that they thought all vets would go for the $100 package, since it’s the only one really offering value for money. But wow, that would mean they thought $100 was a reasonable asking price for an expac.
The biggest thing you’re missing is that a lot of people are currently unsure if they want it and will enjoy it because they don’t know what will be in it.
It’s very hard to make a sensible decision on whether something is worth your money when you don’t know what you’re buying.

The new WvW maps will be available for everyone. If this is really the only thing you care about (but I guess elite specialisations will be interesting for you) you don’t need to buy HoT in the near future.

The Ultimate edition is basically buying in bulk. You get the expansion and the random extras from the Deluxe edition and the gems, and get them at a reduced price for buying them together.
If I go to the supermarket intending to get a jar of pasta sauce for £2 and come home with 3 because it was on a buy 2 get 1 free deal it doesn’t mean I would actually have been willing to spend £4 on one jar. It means I know that over time I’d have bought 3 anyway, and since I can get it cheaper by buying them together (and can afford the higher price) I went for that option.
Likewise the people who will buy the Ultimate edition are most likely to be people who buy gems regularly. If, sooner or later, you’d spend £42.50 on 4,000 gems anyway you’re better off getting that package because then you essentially get the Deluxe edition for £37.50.
(This is assuming of course that you a) want the expansion and b) can afford to spend £80 all in one go.)

He’s entitled as a customer to decide whether he feels a product is value for money. He doesn’t think so.
The previous game we paid for doesn’t factor in that decision, he paid for those three years at the price that Anet set.
And Anet doesn’t owe us anything, but if they don’t keep their customers happy they lose money. That directly threatens the health of the game. If you feel strongly about the game then you should want them to feel they are getting value for money. They paid for the last three years with gemstore purchases as much as you did, after all.

I agree with that, but I also feel that it’s the only value for money deal for vets. After all, they’ve got a trackrecord of buying gems.
edit: To clarify, I didn’t quite mean that the price of the Expac is $100, poorly worded by me. More that that tier was specifically targetted at vets in part by making the lowest tier so unappealing.
Would you rather the forums lied about how the people feel and tried to hide problems away, so noone is aware they exist until you find yourself in an empty game?
