soooo many posts on here keep spreading this ‘1 map’ bs, were getting 1 region! a region consists usually of 4-7 maps and in the xpac 1 map = 3 biomes and 1 biome is equal to 1 current map. so if we get 4 maps thats 12 biomes so 4 HoT maps potentially = 12 current maps in size ( depending on size). please get your facts right before sprouting this only 1 map bs ty

To be clear. In the context of GW2 ‘map’ and ‘zone’ mean exactly the same thing. Queensdale = a map = a zone. What you call a zone, gereden, is called a ‘region’ in GW2. Ascalon, Kryta, Orr and so on are regions.

hmm so you are correct, i just prefer zone to region but thanks i shall edit my post :P

Did you see the biome verticality in action because I didn’t.
What you are asking for work in both way.

we get maybe 1/3 a region, maguuma jungle is not as big as you think and i have played GW1 from the start…i should know…
I’d love to get my facts right.
and when Anet provide some, I’ll make sure to keep them in mind.
for now, we know almost nothing about how many maps we’re getting, so you can’t argue we’re getting to few or too many. you can argue we_might_ have too few or too many, but we still don’t know either way.

I think someone mentioned that 2 maps from the Region. 1 map for Guild Halls.
WvW gets 1 map
PvP gets 1 map
My theory is that the price is inclusive of Drytop and Silverwaste map (they just won’t tell you it is). Which makes it 4* maps at the moment.

We don’t know much, that much is true. However we do know the people saying it is just one map with 3 biomes are wrong. We know that there will be at least 2 maps, each with 3 biomes.

Looking at this map makes it appear like there is room for about 5 maps I’d say. I’m expecting at least 3.

Fine. Now if only people wouldn’t state assumptions as fact.

Both side are doing it: it’s tiresome & currently I’m against Anet.

I think the first thing to do is to clean up the debate. find out what the issues are, and discuss them individually, in a reasonable manner.

This is calling for reasonnable debate over internet. Personnaly I’m done for.
I won’t buy HoT & I won’t launch GW2 anymore for a LONG TIME.
I was ready to buy the highest version of HoT at pre-purchase but i just won’t with these condition toward existing player And the current attitude of Anet to play hide.
I will wait for the Stream tonight to see If they dare to say something about the issue.

I never said they didn’t.
Also there isn’t two sides.

Okay I may have jump on the wagon there; Sorry for that.
But there is still is no proof how the biomes works with the map except a Anet employee word.

I think they mean two sides to the argument? I don’t think anyone was mentioning the biomes…

Pretty much everywhere west of SW, DT, Metrica Province, and Rata Sum, maybe even slightly north of SW has the potential of having maps added. If they really extend the jungle that far down (releasing one map at a time like an expedition), that could be even larger than all of the revealed Orr maps are. There’s a lot of potential with this expansion, and as long as they continue to work on this one and don’t go on to the next one before they finish the content here, we may very well be getting a very good amount of content.
The kicker is, I bet they don’t know the full extent of the expansion themselves. Right now they are only going to release a certain amount of content, but like with other expansions, content patches will come. Even if it’s 3 maps in total, the land area of the triple-stacked Verdant Brink is larger than both of the Maguuma Wastes maps combined, so that’s probably about 4x the amount of area as those two in total, at a minimum.

That’s what I was referring to.
This article lists some of the major groups http://massivelyop.com/2015/06/18/why-guild-wars-2s-prepurchase-deal-has-the-internet-raging/ . And this doesn’t include the group that’s apathetic about it all, or the the people who have a little of this a little of that but not of that over there.
To boils this down to a us vs them, or to think there is a right and a wrong is silly. In fact it’s kinda a bad thing…

^ This.
Also, based on “facts” you do know, try to put a price on the expansion. I mean seriously, compare it to those “normal 50$ expansions”.
I for one have about 1.5k hour and I rarely come back to map’s I’ve finished! I get the map done I GTFO, because It’s not rewarding, it’s not challenging and it sure as hell isn’t competitive content – just plain boring.
Masteries cannot be considered a feature, because they are essentially part of the map, and I gather they cannot be used outside so it fails as a gameplay expansion. It’s a good map mechanic at very best.
Anyway, unless you come back to that map to grind once you’re finished with it I’m guessing the map is 6-12 hours of gameplay. I am estimating 6-8 for completion and probably 4 more hours of grinding (which is hardly gameplay) for achievements.
Put a value on a region (or 6-12 hours of gameplay). If you’ve done any comparison to other game expansions I’m guessing that price is around 10-15$.
The highlight of the expansion are character expansions. Granted, there’s a new character and some characters get a FEW new animations. Sadly, for some rev won’t even be playable without few days of grind (shout-out tor “no grind philosophy”), deletion of existing characters, or additional 10$.
Finally, guild halls – another thing a lot of people are waiting for. I can’t say much about it, because there’s little info on it, but I don’t see them developing halls enough for them to cost much.
I don’t know how you value these things, but it definitely doesn’t go over 35$ to me.
For their own sake, I hope they forgot to advertise some big feature of HoT.

3 biomes = in reality 1,5 of current maps. Thats a marketing speak, who was in “beta” should know that. Yes maps are vertical but the actual usable terrain doesnt match old maps.
If they want us to pay the same price as for base game i want to see as much contest. Whole Maguuma Wastes and Magus Falls – what i market on my ss. At this point i can call it an expansion, if its not even close to that, then sorry but that dlc is overpriced.

I love the fact that you had to edit your “get your facts right” post because you got your facts wrong.
Anyway, the only actual “fact” here is that we’re getting more than one map. The rest of your post is full of assumptions.
1) the number of zones in a region (Orr has only 3, for example, and the maguuma wastes has only 2) and the assumption that all the zones will be there at launch.
2) the contention that 1 biome is equal to a current map. There will have to be huge pockets of empty space in the canopy layer of these maps (otherwise you wouldn’t be able to glide) and the roots layer will most likely be tunnels and caverns so the canopy and roots layers won’t be as “full” as the actual ground layer.

Anyway, IMHO actual facts are far too scarce at this stage. Hell, we don’t even know if the expansion will release this year.

As far as I could tell at least the roots/underground biome was missing from the beta. I don’t know how much of the other two biomes was included, but I got the impression those were included fully.
