I appear to be missing something in regards to the very last Heart of Thorns story line quest. Wife and I zone into Dragon Stand and go to Z, wife gets teleported and I get told sorry not till we get zone mapped out. When she starts her story line quest nobody else in the group gets any message allowing us to opt in and join her.

So what am I missing? I reset my storyline to be doing HOT (Still in part 1). I tried two different characters who have both completed zone meta to kill Mord but nada.

Are there prereqs to being able to participate?

What I had to do in order to have a friend join me for that instance was:

• Disband the party
• Have both people port into DS the instance (not the DS map itself but the instance where you can active the story)
• Reform the party
• Enter the story

With any luck that should pull you both into the same story instance.

What we did was port in and make sure we are in the same instance of DS but when she talk to z she gets ported to where she can actually enter the story while I basically get told to buzz off so I don’t get ported to were she is. This puts her in the depths of the zone and me at the entrance; I thought as long as I was in the same zone I would get the invite to participate but so far nada.

I will check if she is in another instance after she ports so I guess that is one possible avenue. Anyone know why Z won’t send me to the same place? Doesn’t make much sense that everyone has to be on that part of the story line to participate.

You have to port yourself into that instance where the story can be activated. If you aren’t in there then you can’t join her story. At the very start of DS there should be a NPC with green story mote that you can talk to, too travel to the right place → Area with the spinning helix. You both need to be there, and once inside party up, then activate the story instance.

That seems to be the problem then because when I zone into DS and go to Zinn she has the option to request being ported behind enemy lines into the depth of the DS, however when I select that option she basically says sorry we need to open the zone more and do exploring etc etc. Maybe I may need to be at least on act 4 of the story line quest for that to work.

I guess I’ll use a port stone to try and join her before she starts the story line.

In other words, you can’t help out using a character that didn’t advance to that point of the story yet.
