Today we’ve got a trailer about the new borderland, and near of the 3/4 of the video, there was a light armored character with gs whose attack were the same as ele’s water and fire auto attacks with dagger. Can we take it as a confirmation?

Fiery Greatsword?

Was that the character that used a serpent strike-like animation, but in orange and minus the snake head, just after using the fire dagger autoattack? (could have been a dodge though with some weapon skin animation) edit:ignore me, was just Fiery Whirl at 1:11, nothing to do with OPs observation.

Sure it wasn’t a 1handed sword?

I hope not. Kinda tired of greatsword, especially for cloth.

funny thing: with ele, light armor would be the armor class with most greatsword availability.

I can see Sword, Horn or Pistol for ele’s. Lets face it they already have most of the other weapons through the elements.

• Fire = Axe & GS
• Water = Frost Bow
• Air = Hammer
• Earth = Shield

The use Staff, Dagger, Scepter and focus. Sword, Pistol, and Horn are light weapons that so far they do not have access to.

Just my opinion though

According to That_Shaman on reddit it looks like Elemntalists will get a mainhand sword. Fills a niche as a sole melee combat weapon and thus makes sense. Make sure to hop over onto reddit – i don´t know about ArenaNets stance on posting stuff like datamining, so i don´t post a link.

Technically I believe data mining is illegal unless you are authorized to do so by either the software license or owners. If you don’t work with ANet I’m fairly sure it wouldn’t be allowed or legal.

I also believe they mess with data miners by planting some false info for them to find. After all. There has been loads of data mined information that has yet to be seen. They could be place holders for items they will release later, so puke up some info to make a space and viola data mined item #19045689 Super awesome thing that will never see the light of day. Have you seen those data minded items toons chat in map chat. Those have been around for years. Your better off looking in you Wardrobe for items they slip out.

ANet is good at hiding info, look on the forums, look on web sites, everyone is clambering for info. I don’t think they are worried so much about what is data mined because I think they anticipate that move. Just my opinion though.

That was a Mesmer. Take notice of how the animation changes when the character switches to Auto attack from casting their attack. Its using Mesmer greatsword animation which is a ranged channel attack.

Ele should get Torches to crash and burn

As I said in the warrior thread, based on a lot of the speculation and what we know so far, they may not duplicate weapons across specializations. We know necro is getting greatsword, because of that, I highly doubt ele will also get it. Not this time around anyway.

Given the current weapons that eles cannot currently use though, my bet is pistol, sword, or torch.

I’m ruling out shield, hammer, axe, and bow due to the conjures at this time; however, perhaps at some point we’ll see conjurable weapons become actual specializations.
