They where toying with the idea before launch, if I remember correctly. But never say never. I don’t think anyone would have guessed we would have had hero’s or that we could add our own character’s as hero’s when GW1 came out.

I doubt it. The old game had a trinity system and would often go against groups of mobs that were using the trinity also. This meant that single players had trouble soloing the game (and I mean no heroes or henchmen either). You pretty much had to be in a group to play. This game you can run around solo and do most content. No need for a party and therefore no need for mercenaries/heroes. It would also decease the social aspect of the game if people don’t ever need others to party up with to do content.
