says I have one available on the top part in hero panel green thing and bottom part say I have 25 available. iv tried clicking it and such cant seem to fdiure out how to use them

1) Click on the far right of your exp line. There’s a little square there. That pulls up your mastery panel.
2) select a mastery line for the correct part of the world (central Tyria: old maps or heart of Maguuma: new maps). Then click on your selected mastery line where it has the word, Train. You’ll need to choose one line for each area.
3) completely fill up the mastery line with experience by playing the game in the correct areas.
4) have enough mastery points by doing content that gives you mastery points
5) open up the panel when you have a filled in mastery line and enough mastery points.
Click on the starburst icon at the end of the trained mastery line and before the icons that show how many mastery points you need for that line.

When I got HoT I was confused too. I don’t like this system, filling it up with exp should be enough.

agreed. the system is not very intuitive or clear. i would bet a large # of players let that exp bar fill up, and leave it there for sometime, missing out on any new exp, because they didn’t realize they needed to click thru a few menus to move on to the next mastery

After reading, I am still in doubt :/

Am i right to say that after I get HoT, my experience bar will be replaced by the mastery bar?

Meaning I earn mastery points instead of experience and when my mastery bar is full, I will get one mastery point to be added to the mastery skills?

Do i even make sense? >.<

Close, but not quite.

Once you get to level 80, the mastery lines will unlock (account wide) if you own HoT and do the Living Story. Once it’s unlocked and you’ve selected a line you gain exp to fill out that line. Then you “buy” the filled out mastery line with mastery points, in much the way you buy skills with skill points. You get these mastery points from communing at mastery point places or by doing specific content that gives you a mastery point.

Unlike skill points, mastery points are local. One gained in Maguuma from communing at a mastery point place can’t be used to “buy” a Tyrian mastery line. You also do not get any from leveling up. It’s by doing content only.

Thank you for the clear and comprehesive explanation It clears up a lot of things.

So for Tyria mastery points, I need to gain them by doing quests , doing map completion, etc in Tyria. As for Maguuma mastery, I need to do mastery events in Maguuma.

But I am a casual player and due to work and personal commitments, I soloéd most of the time. I understand from reading some of the posts in this forum, many of Maguuma mastery events need group play :/ So will I have problem filling up the gliding mastery bar?

I am only interested in getting the gliding skill and specialisations in Hot. Thanks.

Basic gliding you can get very easily. Just fill up the basic gliding bar and assign it the mastery point you get from the Living Story. The Specializations need Hero points, not mastery points. You can either get the Hero points in the old Tyria maps or the new Maguuma maps.

Dulfy put out a hero point guide if you want to try those. I suggest you look for the ones marked as soloable. (This guide is old and some of the champs on the non soloable ones may have been nerfed).
