how long
Well the first level 80 was only a few days into the game and that person started moaning they were bored already. There is more than enough content in the masteries and with 4 maps that require unlocking said masteries to progress through, for content to carry on right through into next year.
If people rush through and complete things quickly that is of course up to them, but I’m not sure I see the benefit of doing everything as fast as possible. Some things yes, but not everything.
I suspect this is why things are more gated this time around, because of those people who rushed through the core game in the first days/weeks of launch.
I don’t know. Seems like some already say there isn’t enough content. And it hasn’t even released yet.
So….minus 9 months?
Probably will have a general idea by the end of the weekend.
I’m going through the entire story first so I’ll know soon enough how long it is.
Considering people were asking for Cantha with a week of Vanilla launch. I am going to say 5 days.
1. Day to get glide.
2. Day to fully unlock specialization for 1 class.
3. to burn through story
4. complain about raids not being instantly available.
5. Come to forums to complain.
Players that fly through content are a very small percentage of the player base and should not be the ones that Anet caters to. Those players race through games as fast as possible, check it off their list, and move onto the next game. They rarely contribute to the community, don’t take the time to enjoy the content, and definitely don’t contribute to ANet’s bottoms line in the gem shop.
I think there is plenty of content for the 95% of the players that are casual to keep them busy for quite some time. Additionally, we are going to get content updates every few weeks with living story, a new raid wing every few weeks, quarterly balance updates, probably 4 new maps added as the living story progresses, and the expansion grande finale of fighting/defeating Mordremoth.
There is a lot of content to look forward to and regular content updates to keep the 95% happy.
Personally, I’ve never experienced an MMO or x-pac where people don’t rush the forums after a couple of weeks complaining “there’s nothing to do anymore”. Don’t put too much stock into these people. Those are the type of players who rush through the content and jump from one MMO to the next. They were never meant to be retained anyway.
When GW2 released the same thing happened and yet here we are with the game still going strong.
vets are already good at the game, will blow through the story and events and unlock masteries after a couple solid weeks..especially with weekends…
I’m a vet and I won’t blow through the content. Just because you’re a vet doesn’t mean you have to rush through the content. I think you seriously underestimate the amount of casual players in GW2. If you play a couple of hours per week you certainly won’t be done with the expansion in just a couple of weeks.

I meant that vets know how to play the game..just more efficient
