as much as i am hype about more raid and fotm and believe those content are for me,

nerfing dungeon make no sense cause some ppl are having a hard time with them already, there is a reason why people are willing to pay 10+ gold for dungeon completion; that dungeon are worth more sold then completed speak volume, all this would do is make it even harder for those casual players to do dungeon and create a even higher demand for paid completion.

we want raid to be challenging so it clearly NOT going to be for everyone, especially those who find dungeon which is mild compared to raid and fotm a troubling prospect to complete, it would simply drive the causal gamers away and this game NEED causal gamer as pve is pretty empty as it is now(hence the f2p), it will be even more so if the message anet is sending is raid or gtfo…

let us have our raid and let them have their low challenge fun. anet should instead concern itself with how to reward fotm and raid better!

I hate to say it, but that’s kind of what they’re doing.

There is a certain element within the player base that is very much focused on doing things “the right way”. They want you to either do what they say, how they say it, or “GTFO”. And right now, those people are in dungeons and fractals.

Soon, we’ll have raids. Raids that (in theory) NEED to be done right if they’re to be beaten at all. Where people need to listen, work together, and pull their own weight. In short, it’s what that part of the player base has been trying to make dungeons be.

Now with raids incoming, they’re lowering the gold rewards on dungeons. One of the most likely effects is that any “serious” runner is going to abandon them. Those that run them for fun or tokens, however, will not. The people running them will shift, and so will the general attitude towards them. Hopefully, in time this will cause them to be seen as something to do for fun, more than for the reward.

This isn’t the main reason why they’re doing this, naturally. But it’s a likely side effect, and part of the reason why they decided to change things in this manner. I just hope that they make a few more ‘casual friendly’ changes to them soon, to move further along this line.

I think the developers have taken a great risk with raids. If they truly are going to be incredibly difficult, I think only a small percentage of players will continue to do them. However if Anet gives in and nerfs the difficulty of raids then the hardcore elitists will be ranting and probably abandoning raids as well. Anet has staked a lot on this raid content and they need the numbers to show it wasn’t a mistake. Nerfing dungeons is to me a sign that the developers are nervous about their reception. They’ve gated legendary armor and unique minis to further sweeten the pot for raids. I just hope that raids and fractals will not be the only places to get good loot.

Agreed on the risk, and I think it’s a big mistake. And while I do see a little bit of trying to shift people over to fractals and raids with this, I see it’s not the only reason for what they’re doing. I’m sure they had several goals and several options, and went with the one that meets the most goals.

Everyone liking it was an obviously missed goal.

[ One of the most likely effects is that any “serious” runner is going to abandon them. ]

it just means good player who do it for the gold will just farm gold by selling path since no “free” good player will be there to carry the average/casual player more fustration = more “paid” customers. i feel it will causes a breakdown and create a 2 tier game.

that what i am trying to say…

I’d thought of that, but I don’t think it’s going to really happen. This is… well, it’s a public execution.

There are, apparently, better ways to make money than running dungeons and even selling paths. But not everyone realizes it, or feels that deep down. This is the devs dragging the gold reward out into the street, and with everyone watching putting a bullet through its head. It’s a decisive move to make a shift in how people think, rather than adjusting things and hoping people adapt. (Because they haven’t.)

I think this will end a lot of the path selling. People will simply not equate “dungeon” with “profit” any more, and move on. Maybe I’m wrong. We’ll have to wait and see.

No, it’s not stupid at all. It’s actually going to fix a lot of problems.
People are lazy as hell. Barely anyone wants to lvl up fractals because they prefer to run dungeons as they’re faster, easier and more profitable. Same thing would happen to raids if this wasn’t addressed in any way.
Casual players can look up guides on YT or anywhere to learn how to do dungeons instead of waiting for someone to do all the (easy) job for them.
If people stop being lazy maybe the game will be more fun for everyone – both casual players (who won’t be asked by “speedrunners” to have certain gear and builds in kitten easy dungeons) and more “hardcore” players who want the content to be challenging and sufficiently rewarding at the same time (fractals, raids).
If anyone’s got sooo much trouble with dungeons that they need to go and buy a path then maybe they should find a guild where people actually help eachother, not whine about Anet’s decision.

Best decision Anet made in a while! \o/
