next week's blog
I want a specialization. I’d prefer druid but it matters little. As long as I finally get to see how much new vs base class they actually bring.

And they know you want it. So count on them coming very near dead last .

I’d expect the Druid spec blog to be the first spec blog, since that way they can make us wait even longer to find out what the other specs are.
It would be nice of them to give us a list of specs. Just the names (and preferably a planned order of blog reveal). That would fuel a few threads full of guesses as to what the specs will actually do

What good would that do? I would actually hate that, because there’s already way too much pointless speculation around here. Speculation offers nothing but a useless way to occupy the mind, trying to discern things that are already decided but not revealed.
Specializations!

I want the reverse actually: they do not say anything about the different specializations (such as names or weapons) but instead tell us how specializations work in general.
Much more likely, since there have been data mining leaks, this will be the second part of the revenant profession.
NB.: That’s not what I would want to have but the odd are high for this blog to be next week blog.
Aren’t they going to implement a couple of different borderlands? So far they’ve revealed the desert borderland, so probably next week they’ll reveal the another borderland.
There is no other borderland.

I’ve seen nothing to indicate that there will be more than this one map.
Guilds would be my request, then they can have 9 weeks of specialisations. I’m very curious about how Guild Halls will be implemented that will be fair to small guilds.
For me PvP stuff is always “wait and try it.” Where PvE stuff I can hype. So anything from this point on will be more hypey for me!
“Group challenging content”
Id love to know whether i am going to be disappointed or not.
That or the necro specialisation. I suppose any info on specialisations would be nice.
Any specialization would be nice because I want to get an idea of what the class will lose when specializing.
Guild Halls would be my next choice because the game really doesn’t have much content that you even need to group for, let alone be in a guild for. I’m really curious if they’re going to give guilds more to do than just play house.
Guild content or this “Challenging challenges that will challenge hardcore players”.
Could not care less about specializations when we don’t even have ETA on closed beta. And please no more wvw, pvp or mushrooms.
Hmm, why wait to next week? Thursday is a perfectly good blog day. Today we only got a compilation of reviews of REZZED’s demos, mostly videos we’ve seen already if we were streaming REZZED. Perhaps some new information tomorrow?
Hmm, why wait to next week?
Because we had a blog post on the new borderlands map yesterday?
Yes, but in the past they’ve given us 3 blog posts in a week, Tues-Wed-Thurs, leading to threads asking why we never see posts on Mon/Fri. It’s not always doled out one tiny bit per week.

Rechecked the announcement vid. Yeah one borderland with 3 keeps. I thought it was 3 borderlands XD
My vote is for new legendary weapon skins… I really want to know what they will look like…
I would like specializations, maybe druid so we can see how specializations would actually effect trait lines and utiities and how to acquire the specialization. Just one wouldnt hurt. ._.
ppl really need to read some before asking for something, specialization is more then just some pretty weapons.
it will completely replace the trait system and i find that allot more important then any new weapon set, i like to see if they actually fix their own mistake or if they made it even worse.

That’s not what has been said. Yes, specializations will give some new traits but nowhere has Anet indicated that specializations will “completely replace the trait system”.

“Specializing keeps base profession skills and traits in addition to the new ones provided by that specialization”
yes it does….
it will completely replace the trait system
Be sure that won’t happen. What’s most likely is that the last trait line will be replaced with the specialization’s new trait line.

As I’m the wiki editor who wrote most of that article, I’d like to link my source for credibility:
“Colin: We’re really trying to make it feel like it’s almost a sub-profession or a secondary profession if you will, and not just a new set of a couple of skills. It’s not just opening up the capacity to use a staff. When a ranger becomes a druid, they have an entire new set of skills and traits that come available to them. And their profession mechanic changes as well. That’s true with all the specialisations. You actually play the profession differently, not just in skills and traits, but in the core mechanics of those professions. Some of them will change an existing profession, some of them might give them entirely new profession abilities and remove other ones. It really varies specialisation to specialisation, but it really should feel like you are playing a new version of your old profession. And players can actually mix and match a little bit. If you are playing as a Druid you will be able to use a lot of the Ranger’s skills, and you can actually slot them in to make a lot of creative builds. But a Ranger can not use any of the stuff a Druid has unless they become a Druid.” – PCGamer

cute, however what was said beyond the whole “second profession” thing is something completely different said by colin him self:
“Now that the HOT is out of the bag, we’re able to update this thread with more details. With the introduction of the new account based mastery system for end-game progression and growth in PvE, we’ll also be re-evaluating our other systems of character progression to ensure they match our over-all pillars and goals for Gw2.
In doing so: we’re going to be removing the current trait unlocking system currently on live and replacing it with a more simplified system that supports where skills-traits-specializations are going in the future. We’ll go into more details between now and the release of HOT on how skills, traits, and specializations will work in the new Gw2 world."
we don’t have enough details but he surely said it will completely replace the trait system.

so.. nothing new this week?
Considering this:

One might think they’ll post this here in a few hours too.

Man, google translate is such a pain to read. So if that page is correct then it seems to be about the precursor collections (though in the one pic it says Legendary collections -_-).

Even in your own quote it shows that a Druid is locked out of some of the Ranger’s skills “…playing as a Druid you will be able to use a lot of the Ranger’s skills”
Why is “a lot” used instead of “all” if you have access to everything a Ranger has accessible to them?
Also, “But a Ranger can not use any of the stuff a Druid has unless they become a Druid”
I really don’t know how anyone can interpret those two above points as having access to current skills and traits as well as getting new ones. They’ve also said that specializations are supposed to be sidegrades, not upgrades. So that maybe there’s something you’d do better as a Ranger than a Druid and vice versa. Thus why they said (Colin specifically too, Look at Angry Joe interview) we are able to switch back and forth between a Ranger and Druid on the same character.
There is a world of difference between “traits unlocking system” and “traits system”.
so the first change was also simply trait unlock?
because for the past 10 months we have talked about the entire trait system, not just unlocks.
specialization will change how traits work entirely, it might not be a huge change but they will change some things including unlocks.

I think you’re confusing two things. Specialization will give access to new traits, yes.
However, seperately from the specialization system, the unlock system for traits will be changed. To be clear: this change to the unlock system is completely seperate from the specialization system.
