yep … I bought an upgrade … now I have to wait for the 4k gems ?? yet, if you buy gems, you get them straight away.

Mr Quinn, you may have missed previous threads explaining that: when you buy gems on an existing account they know your payment is legit. When you get the half-price gems with the Ultimate HoT purchase, they have to make sure the payment clears. Apparently the initial prepurchasers ran into or caused problems with getting gems and then canceling the purchase (or turning out to be stolen accounts). So they put in a 72 hour delay to fix these issues.

It’s fun waiting while watching the limited-time sales run out.
How long does it take for a Paypal payment to clear versus others? Chargebacks are available for at least 30 days.

the ‘new’ account is 3 years old … I can buy gems, and have done in the past, and probably should have just done so … but no, I didn’t know why one has to wait for your ‘purchase’ on an existing account.

You can always submit a request to the CS Team stating the items you wished to purchase, and they may allow you to purchase them after the sale at the discounted price once your Gems are released.

But, you would need to get the request in before the sale(s) end.

The Ultimate one, from the buy.guildwars2.com site? Because the deluxe upgrade from gemshop does not have gems in it.
(from what i remember, the gems from Ultimate version are processed once per week, so if that’s the version you bought, you may end up waiting for few days)

Anet needs to remove the deluxe version of GW2 out of the gemstore and never bring it back it is very confusing to people exactly what it is. Is it Heart of Thorns no its just an upgrade to the original game. People seem to think it is HoT though. They try to save gems for it, because of that reason.

So Anet either make that an upgrade for the base game and the expansions as it progresses or just remove it.

There are two different Deluxe Upgrades in the Gem Store. One for the Core game, and one for Heart of Thorns. They each offer different items, so one could purchase both, if so inclined.

You cannot upgrade to heart of thorns for gems…..

How can people confuse something that doesn’t mention Heart of Throns at all to being Heart of Thorns? Sounds to be more of a case of not reading what you’re buying before buying.

This thread is a little unclear to me, but if it’s about getting gems with upgrade (which I think it is), let me just point to the fact that deluxe never came with gems, only ultimate did.

As Mr Quinn has already explained, it had nothing to do with buying deluxe hot version or deluxe core version instead of HoT Ultimate one. It was just the case of Anet sending gems for Ultimate buyers once per week (which means he had to wait few days, which unfortunately meant he got his gems after the anniversary sale ended).
