I have bought heart of thrones and I finished the main story mission of gw2 now it says i an a druid but I still can’t use the staff and i suspect its because for some reason get past mastery rank 0 even though i have fill the xp bar. please help!!!

You’re confusing mastery and hero points.

To be a Druid, you need to assign hero points to the Druid line in your skill panel. You need to buy the skills and traits with hero points. Hero points are the old skill challenges. In addition, the Druid trait line needs to be in the 3rd position, below the other 2 trait lines.

For the mastery system: mastery points you get as reward for doing content or by finding places that are like hero points but give mastery points or by opening certain chests in Maguuma.
you need both exp and mastery points. Once you’ve gotten enough experience to reach the end of the mastery line, you “buy” it with mastery points you’ve gained. You should have gotten one mastery point for doing the initial story that got you in there.

Click on the right hand side of your mastery bar (your old experience bar) where the little tab is. That will pull up a panel. You need to click on a mastery line to tell the game that that’s the one you want all your exp to go to. On that panel on the right hand side, you’ll see how many mastery points are needed to get it once you’ve finished filling up the line with exp.

One the line is full, you click on a box on that pop up panel at the end of the mastery line to assign your points.

You also need to do the first story segment of HoT with at least one character to unlock the Mastery system.

As a new player I can confirm that Mastery Points from the personal stories aren’t being awarded from doing other races. It sounds like the developers have clarified that you are awarded one point per chapter (i.e. 10, 20, etc.) but only for the chapters, and only once. So the new Asura I created awarded no point when I completed the level 10 chapter.

Now I’m back to wasting xp because I can’t unlock any achievements. Triple Trouble is something I either can’t get on a map for, or it fails. JP? I’m a new player, can’t do them.

I guess I have to live with a flashing xp bar while I spin my wheels.

That makes seance because then I try and go to the mastery system it tells me i need to go to the heart of maguuma and finish the story called torn from the sky but it wont tell me where the story is.

never mind figured it out. I did not know I had to click start story. Thanks to everyone!!

Open your Hero Panel, click the star icon for personal story. As long as you are 80, you will see Heart of Thorns listed. Click on that to “begin this story.”

Then go to western Brisban, the bandit fort in the triad fight event area. There is a portal there to the Silverwastes. Follow the south exit out of the fort to get to the entrance to the red fort, where your story star will be waiting at the south gate.

Just an FYI: There is only one Jumping Puzzle that awards a Mastery Point. It’s not very difficult jumping-wise; the difficulty (if any) lies in the puzzle aspect. You can find a guide, though, on the Wiki (link above).
