does anyone know what time the patch will come in that adds the portals for the closed beta?

There was no official statement on that issue yet. And it’s one of the questions Anet usually doesn’t answer.

I’m fairly certain the point of doing it this way is to build a pool of people who can play during ArenaNet’s Business hours so that they can hold the beta when staff will normally be in-office.

If that makes any sense to you, then drops happening during AreanNet’s normal business hours (9AM to 5PM PST) is far and away the best way for them to achieve their goals.

It may not mean anything, but the gem store specials will end at 9 am pacific, just over 1.5 hours from now. That usually means they’re clearing the way for something else to hit the store, so there could be a new build around then.

The gem store doesn’t always need a new build or a server reset to add new stock. So you can’t really go by that.

this time it does because of the balthazar skins, they’re not in the game yet so they need to update the client.
