pre-purchase through retailer

When i pre-purchase HoT through retailer, can I connect this copy of HoT to my already existing GW2 account, or do I have to pre-purchase in-game for that?

You can connect it to your existing account.
I bought it trough Amazon and had no problems connecting it.
