i think the resistance effect is too much compare to the general boon effect..

just feels like it’s not the same game.

thoughts?

Resistance is a needed boon. If they’re gonna rework stability, fear is going to be really annoying. I don’t think they will just add it to the game. More like Berserker’s Stance will give you resistance instead of condition immunity.

Also resistance is removable.

anyway, more serious answer:

condis started out designed as something too “on the side”. you only have one real stat that affect everything about it, no way to mitigate it, and some random skills sprinkled here and there that outright remove them.

then people got good at dealing condi damage. really good. the devs’ initial answer to this was buffing condi removal options, mostly. the initial problem (you only need one stat to be a condi dps character, over the 3 stats you need to be a power dps character) remains.

resistance is there to act as a middle ground between “suck it up” and “outright wipe them from my bar with no rhyme or reason”. it’s a condition-prevention boon, and it can help slow down the powerful effects of big condi stacks without outright cleaning up the condi bar and wasting the condi guy’s effort.

Conditions while relatively weak in large scale pve, in PvP they’re absolutely kittened and way too strong for how little effort can go into running them.

Except they’re changing stability across the board to not be as completely effective.

thus putting it more in line with things like resistance, which also don’t grant you complete immunity.

That depends on how much access you have to resistance, doesn’kitten Just like stability did. If you can get your resistance to be longer than the conditions on you, it is complete immunity,.

Thankfully from what we’ve seen so far resistance is mostly short duration, but from the looks of it, a good Revenant could probably stack enough of it through Mallyk to basically negate all comers.

A Revenant in Mallyk also stacks condis on himself as well, meaning one good boon corrupt and he is in a world of hurt. Let’s not panic about Resistance just yet.

Resistance is a far better option because it doesn’t actually prevent application of condis (right?).

Assuming it replaces current effects like berserker stance, I think it’ll be good. Plus with it now being corruptable, it’ll be even better. Didn’t make sense to make someone condi clear than use another cooldown to prevent application.

This is better for the game overall.

My bets are all on Berserker Stance being changed to use Resistance. Gonna be awesome.

I’m betting, just like the engineer trait where this tech first appeared, it is going to be proven overpowered after a short while and lowered below 100%. But only time will tell.

Resistance buys some protection from burst conditions… only conditions don’t generally rely on burst. Once you’ve dotted someone up, you can usually sustain those DoTs so that losing 2-4 seconds up front isn’t going to change the outcome.

It’s no cleanse. Its stalling for time. Its Aegis for conditions – it obstructs 1-2 ticks and expires.

It just means conditionmancy has to do its own 3 moves ahead thinking and include a strip or corrupt for those folks that really, really need to turn green and die right this second.
