We all know that skill points will be converted into shards and skills will now be unlocked via hero points which are obtained by levelling (400 points by level 80) and by completing hero challenge points (previously skill points – 65 points) around Tyria (there is currently approx. 180 skill challenge points, what is happening with the other 120ish challenges??). Does this mean there is a max of 465 hero points that a toon can get or can you get more?

Will ALL my skills be unlocked (like I have now) in the new patch if I am level 80 and have completed all the skill challenges?

If I am yet to complete all hero challenges (previously skill challenges) in Tyria does this mean I will not have all my skills unlocked after the patch???

Lastly and most importantly, all the skill points which I have already SPENT unlocking skills on all my toons (including knowledge scroll skill points), will they ALL be refunded (bar the skills points you get from levelling)?

I am well aware that any unused skill points and left over scrolls of knowledge will be converted but I sure hope used skill points will be too.

That means as long as you have done 65 of the 180 you will be able to unlock all skills for that character.

i have multiple geared lvl 80s that i leveled in EotM and with pvp tomes. they have 0% map completion, because i did pve three years ago and i have no interest in the dumb AI and stale maps. i am not alone here, many people do not pve at all.

Nothing. Completing them will simply give you more points than what is required to fully unlock all the core skills and traits. When HoT comes, you’ll need another ~100 points to unlock the elite specialization. One day they’ll release more elite specializations and eventually ~100% of hero challenges will be required, assuming they don’t rely on a vertical progression style instead where new hero challenges are worth more than old ones.

Forcing a cap would mean that players would be punished for playing the game. The only cap will be however many hero challenges exist in the game.

On the day of the patch, you will likely login to find that you have no skills or traits unlocked. Instead, you’ll have hero points to spend. Just by being level 80, you’ll have enough hero points to unlock ~85% of your skills and traits. You’ll need ~65 hero challenges completed to get the rest.

If you have 0 skill challenges completed right now, you will only have the points awarded for being level 80, which is enough points to unlock ~85% of all skills and traits. That is for example every skill and ~3.9 out of the 5 trait lines. Keep in mind however that you can only use 3 trait lines at a time now. As long as you don’t want to swap all 5 trait lines, you’ll easily have enough points to unlock everything you want.

Don’t count on it. If there was going to be any compensation, they would have likely said so. I could see them refunding skill points that were spent on actual skills since that is static, but not any skill points or gold that was spent on traits.
