specialization only for level 80s?
From the reveal, it would seem so. Specialization is a type of end-game progression for top level characters. What it looks like is that after you level your Hunter to 80, only then can you develop him/her into a Druid.

It would seem unlikely to me. Anet has put in so much effort in GW2 to remove barriers between players with events and down-scaling. If Anet does make specializations a level 80 feature this would split players between casual and dedicated players.
I believe so as they did talk a lot about endgame progression. There is no split between casual and dedicated players, except the number of level 80 characters they have (dedicated have 3+ level 80 chars, while casual have 1-3).
Leveling in this game is so easy and fast that even casual will get there in few months.
I do hope they would make something for below 80 characters too, but all past LS arcs and this reveal shows they do not care too much about levels 20-79.
I was hoping new areas for 40-70 on this update, but no.

I would assume so. It sounds like it’s only in the new maps and that those maps are level 80 content. So chars that don’t go to the new maps won’t have access to the content that gives the specializations.
It seems like specialization is a part of endgame progression. Colin said something about becoming a Druid in Heart of the Maguuma and that region is for lvl 80s. I also hope specializations is lvl 80 content because GW2 needs more and better endgame progression.
I think they explicitly said it’s for lvl 80 characters.

Whats a Hunter? There is no such profession in GUILD WARS 2.
There is a Ranger in this game.
Please at least use the correct profession name that is used in this game. Not one used in some other game, we don’t want to confuse people with incorrect names.
Thanks.
