So, I’ve seen a lot of talk about specializations killing build diversity . The ccommon argument being that your forced into three trait lines out of five.
From what I understand, and please correct me if I’m wrong that’s why I’m posting, is not only do you get to choose your three, keeping the choice up to you on which three you pick, but you are also not required to spec into three at all. Specializations are by the choice of the player, and the player can also choose to keep there build in the current 5 trait line set up as well? And specializations give you a more focused build, with additional benefits? That’s what I thought was happening here. You pick any three of the five to fine tune your build. But your build can also be left in the 5 trait line set as well, with out the benefits of the specializations trait lines. I could be wrong. Please tell me If I am. thank you!
That’s not at all what they showed. They showed that you can only choose 3, one of which you can go 6 deep in, the other two only 5 deep. Nowhere did they say anything about keeping the 5 trait line setup.

Wait, what, I was under the impression it was 6 in each.
I’m pretty sure is 6 in each as well

False
It is 6 deep in for all 3 traitlines.
So we all agree its pick any of the three trait lines out of five, and 6 deep in all three. But my main question stands, us selecting three required, or are we still able to use the 5 trait line set up

I don’t know what you mean with 5 trait lines setup, but you wont be able to spread your traits across more lines, you will just pick 3 lines to spec and then choose the traits from them…
also it’s not 3 of 5, when the HOT arrives it will be 3 of 6 with future additions of more but to be exact, it will most likely be 3/5 or 2/5+1/X, because if you choose elite spec, you will probably be able to choose only one elite spec…
I’m not certain I understand how the question is separate from that info, but, the current 5 trait lines per specialization are not different from specializations; they are being turned into the specializations. It’s basically a new name. There is only the Strength specialization for Warrior, not the existing Strength line AND a Strength specialization as two different things. You can only choose up to three, there are no points to divide between specs. You might be able to choose LESS than three, if you wanted to for some reason, but no more.
Well in fact it’s really simple. The new spec system will be like this :
You got a pool of traitline :
5 traitline base for each profession (called specialization)
And X elite spec (1 elite spec is 1 traitline. I say X because their will be more in the futur).
Then you will either be able to choose 3 line in the base profession traitlines or 1 elite spec and 2 line in the base profession traitline.
Build will always be 6-6-6.
