I think the big come back of Rytlock was a bit strange and akward. Without any explaination he suddenly pops out of nowhere. then he helps you finish the fight. After that the story is suddenly over, without time to discuss with him where the hell he has been.

Yeah. I agree.
We’ve got all these questions (where were you? what happened? Can we now know where you got that sword from!?) and all he does is grunt and growl. So you can’t fault him for being consistent.
Still it’s possible that there’s more going on here, and we’ll later learn the details. Sort of a In medias res style thing? Maybe Rytlock is working for the human gods and has been sent to the jungle to do something.
Or (lets hope not) he just popped out of the mists and will not hang around as some secondary character.

Well first off that was only just part of the first episode of the new season of living world that is to be released with heart of thorns, it’ll all be explained in coming episodes, my guess is though he channeled the spirits in the mists and finally got a class, the revanant class

Rytlock got his sword (named Sohothin) from killing King Adelburn during the raids of Ascalon, and he was gone for so long because he went into the mists to retrieve his sword after it was lost preforming a ritual to end the ghosts that haunt the Charr, just some lore knowledge for you ;P

Rytlock didn’t get his sword from killing K.A. K.A.’s sword is the broken one in AC, which Eir wants to put back together. Rytlocks sword was Ruriks sword, which Rytlock somehow went and got (Konig Des Todes or one of the other lore masters can probably tell it in more detail).
Edit: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Sohothin <- mini history for Rytlocks sword.

Actually, you’re wrong. Sohothin was Rurik’s sword, not Adelbern’s. Sohothin was in the hands of Rurik when well… something happened in guild wars 1 (spoilers). We don’t know how it got from where Rurik was to Rytlock. Adelbern’s sword is Magdear and we retrieve it in the dungeon Ascalonian Catacombs. It was broken but Eir was having it fixed by a norn smith, who presumably still has it.
