seriusly omg, why hasnt arenanet fired yet the medium armor designer? trenchcoats trenchcoats everywhere, with all the world of cool looking leather armor all we get are trenchcoats of all sizes, colors and designs. one would have expected to get something awesome looking in HoT, and what do we get? bladed, ley line trenchcoats yayy.

tbh im not that exited about medium armor legendary anymore, i bet all my legendary weapons that it will be another trenchcoat but with shiny particles effect

++1! I think all three armor classes need more variety. So many darned skirt thingies for light and heavy are way annoying as well.

Seconded. The armour design in GW2 is pretty boring. Just look at the design quality from GW1.
It’s either garish over the top fashion show stupid impractical things. Or trenchcoats…

Yeah, I know they want each armor class to have an iconic, easily recognizable look, but surely there’s another way? Stop the trench coat madness, kthx.

Whats sad, is that in the over 5 years that GW2 has been in development, anybody on this forum could completely wreck the medium armour designer’s career with a pen and a bit of paper. I can think of dozens of medium armour designs that don’t involve trenchcoats, yet he/she can’t for some reason.

Although the design is uninspired for most, I suspect that there is a more practical reason for the designs.
The armour is a wireframe/skelleton that defines the way the various parts of the armour connect. THe swinging, the bouncing, the flow and the fit on a character.
That is a difficult thing to make.

Then there is the armour skin. The textures that are applied to the wireframe. That requires making thextures, but you can apply them to an existing base. Kind of like repainting your house.
That takes a lot less time, so if you make one trenchcoat model, you can re-use it across everyhting.

The medium armour trenchcoats are beyond a joke now. It’s become insulting really.
Anet can’t have missed the myriad posts about the trenchcoat /skirts issue over the past 3 years. It’s just, I dunno… stupid?
