So if one of the revealed new allies we will meet in Maguuma is the Mursaat do you think the White Mantle will be playing a decent part of the expansion storyline?

What about finally learning the fate of Lazarus the Dire?

Will Lazarus the Dire keep is long promise to have his revenge on the successors of the GW1 Heroes (being the GW2 Heroes)?

Were all Mursaat like the ones that the White Mantle worshipped or is the one we are allied with a separate faction that took a different path from the ones that commanded the White Mantle?

Why have they been in hiding for so long?

How many survived the events of GW1?

Why have they not made contact with the White Mantles?

Along with what happened to Saul D’Alessio after he was taken away?

Will the return of the Mursaat and having them as our allies change the White Mantle from their cultist ways or at least split the faction?

So many Questions I really hope will be answered if the Mursaat are returning.

Well one of the goals of the Mursaat was to keep the Titans contained. They used humans to that end in a way that was less than morally steady. I don’t expect to see anything about the White Mantle since they were kind of dealt with a long time ago but who knows.

After all, it wasn’t that the Mursaat were allied with the White Mantle. The Mursaat were just using the White Mantle. Maybe people who got more into the lore revealed in the Realm of Torment area of Nightfall could have more insight otherwise.

Are you sure those are even the Muursat? All I heard was talk of the “Exalted”.

The whole goal of the Mursaat in GW1 was to stop the flameseeker prophecies from coming true, and thus prevent their race from being wiped out. Since they failed to stop the fulfillment of the prophecies, but somehow managed to survive (or at least some of them apparently did) it makes sense that they would no longer be completely hostile to the rest of Tyria and would be done with the white Mantle (if there are even any White Mantle still around) since the White Mantle were just a means to an end.

Hi, my name is Gern, and I’m an altoholic….

I’m stretching here, but it’s possible that the Mursaat we know don’t represent all “Mursaat”. They could’ve been a fanatical sect; something like the Flame Legion for the Charr.

Well the White Mantle still exists in Tyria as it was revealed in Human Missing Parents Story path but they only exist as a secret cult now.

It is also revealed that the White Mantle are actually the leaders of the Bandits raiding Kryta using the Bandits identity as a alias to hide their existence.

Since the Bandits are moving deeper into Maguuma, with the Nightmare Court and Inquest, word of the return of the Mursaat should reach the White Mantle or members of the White Mantle that are going into Maguuma.

It’s worse than that though, since the bandits also have ties to the Krytan ministry and to centaurs.

You technically didn’t even hear that though, or not from an informative source.
What we know is that there’s a mastery track for a group called the Exalted.
We know that there are flying winged type things which sort of resemble Mursaat.
From this people assume those are Mursaat and assume they are called Exalted. This seems highly likely, but we have any none inferred evidence that these are Mursaat or that they are called Exalted. I’m feel 90% certain that this is the case, but it’s not yet a indisputable fact.

Honestly everyone was saying Mursaat but when I saw the teaser with the floating creatures they seemed more Margonite-esque. If Margonites are demon-esque maybe the Exalted are the “angel-esque” counterparts?

I would say it is too far fetched for the writing team to come up with. The lore shows that they had a city in the jungle, so the mursaat is the obvious conclusion to come to. I expect the discrepancy is just new artwork

Some of the Exalted-related masteries also refer to a Golden City (complete with capitals) which matches where we see the glowing floating people in the trailer. However, ‘Exalted’ could simply be a placeholder because ArenaNet don’t want to spoil who they really are…

…which may be mursaat, but which might not. There are significant differences in their appearance which, while they could be handwaved as a graphics update, possibly shouldn’t be.

To those who think Scarlet hate means she’s succeeded as a villain:
People don’t hate Scarlet like Game of Thrones fans hate Joffrey.
They hate her the way Star Wars fans hate Jar Jar Binks.

The city we’ve seen is also similar to the description of the Mursaat city Saul stumbled upon, which was supposedly in the Magumma Jungle.

…and while the in-game models of the Mursaat only match what we think are Exalted in broad strokes, some of the Artwork you can see in the Saul’s Story book from the Bonus Mission pack closes the appearance gap by quite a bit.

I say they look more like Margonites, we must not forget this is 250 years later and things change. Maybe they’ve learned some lessons and decided to change their ways.
Now maybe they’re on the side of the light and making a new fresh start with other races. Also they could be using this new alliance simply for the help it provides in getting rid of Mordremoth who also threaten their lives. Then go back to beibg the Margonites they’ve always been. Who knows?

Ya certainly lore are causing me to lean more to the new race to be the Mursaat. While their appearance are different don’t forget there is little we know about the Mursaat race and their biology.

There is also the fact that the Mursaat can only be seen by certain people during GW1 and with their natural mastery over magic the appearance we see them as in GW1 may have been a illusion created by them to hide their true appearance or we may have just been seeing them as more Human like due to their hiding magic. They never really explained how the Mursaat ability to be not seeing by people worked exactly beyond the whole ""It is Magic" reasoning.

They aren’t the leaders of the bandits, they just are bandits. It’s quite a difference. They’ve basically dropped so far that they’re hardly a dangerous cult, they’re nothing more than bandits.

To that end, White Mantle won’t have anything to do with the story again, ever. We’ve eradicated them from power and the human storyline of Missing Parents shows us just how strangled they are now.

I don’t think so. I’m pretty sure that various hints in Dry Top and the Silverwastes point towards the White Mantle still being quite active and still being a cult. I firmly believe the White Mantle were behind the mining operation in Dry Top and behind the notes about the ‘New Kryta’ or whatever it was in the Silverwastes (along with the badges found in the Silverwastes).

Yeah in general the entire bandit mining operation thing as it stands now seems… oddly pointless. The only reason for the bandit copper smuggling seems to have been to give Seraph reason to be there, and they didn’t even really play all that much of a role in S2 other than reintroducing Belinda.

Keep in mind that the seraph know full well that white mantle operate out in brisbane wildlands and beyond, they just don’t talk about it to just anyone.

If you do the renown hearts out there for seraph, they all talk about bandits. After you finish the hearts, some of the seraph well yell you about the white mantle in a “I shouldn’t yell you this, but I kinda owe you my life…” sort of way. So the “smuggling” was just a cover story for the white mantle hunting black ops mission they were on most likely.

Human story also makes it pretty clear that bandits are an arm of white mantle(bandit logo is even a riff on white mantle logo)…So I think the bandit smuggling operation is more to indicate that the white mantle are on their way to meet up with mursaat if not in direct communication.

What hints? The only “hints” I’ve ever seen come from two known White Mantle cells and a lot of amusing speculation with no substance. The confessor of the White Mantle, their highest position, is working out of a basement while bandit leaders like Seanan are off doing things? The White Mantle leadership is in shambles and their operation is pretty flimsy – although I suppose they might start manipulating more of the outlaws across Tyria and start and expanding their cells if we find the Mursaat – there’s no better way to whip obedience into someone than to have your Gods strike with hellish fury.

It’s definitely one way to make an abrasive point: “This is what my God does, what has your triad accomplished?”

Nobody ever said we eradicated the white mantle. the confessor we knocked off in a basement was in kryta, but brisbane wildlands is where seraph are actually looking for white mantle. With 2 years between then and now, it wouldn’t be surprising if they rebuilt. Especially given their strong connections to the ministry via caudecus.

As fir regrouping with the mursaat, Seraph said they are following bandit smugglers into dry top, but we know from doing the brisbane hearts that bandit= white mantle more than usual in tis region. Fort Vandal and all the forts we defend in the wastes are former “bandit” forts that have been abandoned under seemingly recent orders judging by the scattered evidence we can find in then, and many have hints of open white mantle presence.

Nobody is saying white mantle is a super strong organization on its religious basis, since there can’t be many who are open to that religion since the krytan civil war, but they are still somewhat organised with a strong bandit force of cannon fodder, and we are seeing a sudden movement west by them. It doesn’t seem to far fetched that they are now aware of the mursaat’s presence(or always were) and are trying to regroup.

Of course, the question then arises on if the mursaat would even want them anymore given how useless they have been, although they would be in a great position to take advantage of the gods absence to try and reclaim kryta…could almost work better than when they stopped the char invasion.
