OP, while I support you in being critical, you haven’t really given ANet anything to think about; no actual criticism; no explanation of what you think is wrong; and thus nothing to latch on to. That also means there is little to discuss.
If you just wanted to vent for some reason, so be it, but don’t expect venting to bring any changes.
I assume OP has a bad internet connection and it took some time to download for the new content. I can’t complain; it took like 30s to get the ‘playable’ and another 2-3mins to download it completely.

I wonder how many other MMOs the OP has played? Most others I know of go down for hours at update time and then allow you to log onto maybe download. Sometimes the game goes down more than a day while they put the update on the servers before you can download and then play. And usually you are also paying a monthly fee to not play for hours at a time while they apply the update to the servers.
With ANet you get to play the game until the update goes live and then download and then play. Very little down time. I can count on one hand how many times the ANet servers have gone down for any length of time in 10 years. Pretty good in my book.
