In the form of urns

Look into my eyes (which are wrapped) you know this to be true.

Reasons:

What we lack: support, blast finishers, mobility
What banners are: support, blast finishers
What urns can do for us: ghostly aura that boons and augments, in GW1 the ritualist could carry them
What they can do in GW2: be a mobile banner and to be dropped for blast finishers or thrown to a location to be used as a mark for teleportation
Robert Gee who showcased both the mesmer and necromancer is an Anet legend dating back to GW1 days, also the prime man behind our current chronomancer, a call back to Guild Wars: Utopia which unfortunately did not see light. As he loves his callbacks to GW1, he may do another callback in the form of the necromancer specialization.

I could see this happening. But if they do this, they’d have to change some things.
Urns in GW1, if I remember correctly, had to be held during combat to have effects. You’d pick them up and drop them to activate the skills on your bar. They are similar to banners and conjure weapons in that they’d have a presence on the map, but they’d also be like kits in that they would change your character. The kit hobosacks replaced back items (which i know is being changed) and these urns would probably replace your weapons. Because of the changes to kits, they wouldn’t want player’s weapons to be ignored, so they’d have to find some way to be able to pick them up and drop them without them removing player individuality.

This could be cool though. I could totally see a “drop said urn is now a blast finisher” as a trait or something.

They could do banners without doing something like urns, which are definitely not banners.

A banner of stretched skin on a bone framework, with spectral runes glowing.

I hope most that necros get a spiritual successor to orders skills, but it’s hard to say whether shouts or banners would be best for that.

Alternately, what about some ritualist/engi flavor in the form of urns as kits, or spirits as turrets? That’s how those things started out anyway.

I should be writing.

It won’t matter what necros get… there is a 99.99% chance the class will still suck.

Yeah, because else it would be 99,99% better than the base necro, and normal necros would die out. But hey , maybe there is a Necro rework in the works that will hit before HoT… AS IF.

I don’t see this happening….most of the skills that the first two specializations have gotten are known skills from other classes. Also each elite spec is supposed to combine two current classes so like Necro/Mesmer or Necro/Guardian. Yea warriors have banners, but there haven’t been any name changes to the skills being migrated to other classes yet.

I actually believe it will be Necro/Guardian and you will get Spirit Weapon skills, however instead of summoning spirit weapons to attack for you, it will be actual Spirits, with the Elite being Belinda Delaqua.
