Mordremoth and Zhaitan’s minions are baby moas compared to these kitteners.

I bet a Champ Smokescale can rekt Axemaster Hareth no problem because those 1000 axes won’t be hitting anything with the Rev sword skill 3 + perma evade that somehow still works outside the cloud.

And those Arrowheads / Stoneheads / Macebutts will just casually roll or stomp its way through Mordremoth’s useless Breachers.

The only minion that can even come close to beating these kittens are Zhaitan’s Champ Risen Abomination

Stupid dinosaurs. /sarcasm

Sauron is in charge of the Saurians so go figure.
Serious note the mushrooms can take any dinosaur without a problem. The dino’s have clear tells and you can mostly get out of the way without issue, even the smokescales depending on which prof you play are not a huge issue.

It’s pretty funny how basically all the creatures in the jungle are more annoying to deal with than Mordy’s minions (chaks, mushrooms, dinosaurs, even the itzels). I still personally hate smokescales the most because every time u walk pass their range you have to double dodge their sword #3 attack. Whereas mushrooms just tries to charge or shoot spikes/little versions of themselves at you and only the little versions you kind of have to dodge because of the cripple, but sure, if you fight a bunch of them in a cramp space the self explosions can be harder to deal with than smokescales

Well, if you want to think about it in a lore sense, this isn’t the first time Mordy has awoken. And since his domain is the jungle, the creatures that naturally inhabit it would have to evolve strong defenses to survive the periodic Mordy invasion

I want a new race of T-Rex people. They can use the human meshes for all armor sets but the helmet and maybe gloves and shoes. The voice actress for Buttercup can do the female T-Rex voice while the male T-Rex can be voiced by someone who can do a convincing Boba Fett.

GW1 dinos would cause so many tears in GW2 if they brought similar enemies where you gasp had to pay attention. The raptors were kinda pushovers though.

TBH, equal, becouse no self-respecting zombie should die to something as trivial as mortal weapon wounds. Classy zombie should also regenerate in cases of dismemberment.

God yeah, they use to wreck me. The dinis in GW2 are nothing compared to the dinos from GW1, even the Hydras where a pain. Especially the ones on the ring of fire islands and FoW. The amount of times the bur ing forest would wipe a team with someone pulling a group on top of everyone and you are pined against the mountain side.

I’ve been fighting a lot of smokescales (though no champs) in an attempt to get the drop for Dark Harvest and I have to agree. It’s not that I’m having trouble fighting them, but the way they poop out smoke every 10 seconds and force me to kite them around is really tedious and not at all fun or challenging.

Saurians tend to be both really stupidly designed (“Arrowheads” = roll around like a puppy to attack, ANet logic?) and significantly more threatening than anything else in their vicinity. There are only two other mobs in HoT I’ve really had issues with, the Mordrem Snipers and frog Bladedancers, both of which were mitigated somewhat by attaining stealth detection. Saurians continue to vex me though.

Everybody has their problem baddies, Saurians have always been easy for me, even solo, meanwhile I’ve constantly had problems with the bloody mordrem itzel assassins and shadowleapers, which I don’t ever see anyone else having trouble with.

But all in all HoT really is loaded with enemies that are poorly designed like this. Instead of having you use your repertoire of skills excellently against a variety of mechanics and rewarding you for specific build strengths, they require you to repeat a single skill over and over to address a spammy near one-shot mechanic repeated eternally on a rote cooldown, and totally ignore your build save for its DPS output, making the only skill bar discerning and memorizing a mechanic obfuscated by the game engine.

You need more dps if your not killing smoke scales after the first cloud.

Agreed. So many critters in HoT have one-note abilities that are OP for the sake of making up for the fact they only have one ability.

  • Pocket raptors, cute as they are, have huge mobility and damage numbers for being midgets. They’re pretty much an AoE-DPS test.
  • Charging mushrooms. If a player had a way to do a knockdown every three seconds, ANet would nerf that crap right quick. It’s not more acceptable to inflict that on a player just because a minor mob has it. (For bosses..? That’s debatable.)
  • StoneheadTRex things. Yet another one-note dashing-knockdown attack. With a wider-than-shown problem similar to Teragrifs.
  • Arrowheads. A moderate challenge from the front or back (damage is a bit punishing for a failed dodge..), but it’s the anti-melee sideroll that’s terrible. Next to no cooldown on it, the knockdown time is equivalent to the cooldown, and it’s fairly damaging. (Worst, the minipet doesn’t roll on idle. :\)
  • Bomber mushrooms. Good to threaten range once in a while, but the AoE is too big and too damaging. But mostly just too big. Attacks don’t change when engaged in melee, so damage bombs are nearly instant when thrown.
  • Smokescales and the infamous <8-second kill window. Again, a skill like that in PvP would be decried as the broken mess it is, but it is (here we go again) the only decent attack it has. One-note monster with a slightly longer cooldown. I appreciate the mechanic that forces movement, but I’d rather it reduce damage to zero to allow for push/pull/blowout skills to still allow control of the battlefield. Slightly shorter/faster attack duration on its multi-chomp would do well for not having to waste more than one dodge on it.

So, yeah, saurians are actually OP.

Many alts; handle it!

You can’t compare PvE npcs with PvP players. AIs are stupid, can’t make real choices, they only repeat a predefined pattern. If you can’t learn and overcome that pattern, the problem is not the AI.

I think saurians are powerful, but calling them overpowered is too much. Some of them should scale better when confronting solo roamers, but that’s all.

Only ones I really have problems are the rolling devils, and only because I stumble upon my own thumbs to use my cc skills.
