why is it so hard for you
Who needs to convince you? Us? Not really down to the community to convince ppl. Anet? There’s a whole website devoted to just that.
There’s plenty of reviews out there which give the pros and cons in detail.
‘you’ in this case is the reality of players, anet, reviewers. But people like you Randulf, you only respond to belittle, and have nothing positive to say about the game.
Which in effect is the same as saying ’don’t bother buying it’

You shouldn’t need convincing on buying the expansion, you’ll either buy it or you won’t…any product that needs to convince me I need it…will be a complete waste of my time and I won’t bother with it…it’s as simple as that.

So you agree I shouldn’t buy it either?

Then don’t buy it. Why is it so hard for you to to make that decision? You obviously don’t care enough to buy it, so don’t. Nobody’s going to lose any sleep over it.

Eh I have masses of good to say about the game? I have outright said it is one of the best expacs I have played? Where on Earth did you pull that nugget from? I have no reason to sell it to you though especially when you are demanding and rude. I will happily list all the great things about the game and expac, but perhaps a politer way of asking is in order?
You buy it or you don’t. No one else will care. It’s the reality of life. Everyone is busy thinking about other things that are way more important than if you buy a game or not. Here’s a cup of life… drink deeply, or don’t, and no one will care about that choice either.
Can’t you people see, Reanne really wants to buy the game? but is afraid it will be everything bad that is being said about it on the forums and magazine reviews?
It is a troll post.
It’s a troll post in the hopes that instead of getting arrogant responses, that someone can actually say something positive, instead of tearing down the OP. I can’t help because I most likely won’t get the expakittenil the Black Friday Sale after thanksgiving. But I probably don’t see the game the same way Reanne does, I am guessing if the OP used to take it for granted s(he) is implying s(he)’s been playing since gw1.
I’d say, Just get the game, but there is no rush :P
1. Somewhat less clicking, for example you can now consume the whole luck essence stack at once
2. -
3. New meta-events in the new maps require co-ordination and timing
4. Difficult is certainly higher in the new maps compared to old open world PvE and most enemies can kill you easily
5. Raids, legendary armour, precursor crafting
6. -
7. -
8. Personal story is different now
9. -
10. Guild Halls exist now
If you’ve made up your mind, nothing any of us can say will change it. That’s not on us; it’s on you.
if u r quitting, i would love to have your mats. thankyou

ya, I think you’re right, I will wait to see if the expac goes down in price on black Friday, and I will also see if the reviews start to paint the game in a better light.
and no, you may not have my mats. I ’ll most likely send them to someone with an open mind like party buddy, or Vikkela, this game needs more people like that.
Why do we care if you buy it or not?
Why is it so hard for you to convince me I should buy this ‘Expac’? I see paragraphs on what is wrong with the game, and short simple sentences stating ’ gliders are fun’ or ’it’s pretty’.
I used to take for granted (granite) that I would buy whatever Guildwars came out, but now, tell me wtf happened?
I can only tell you why I won’t buy it. I doubt it applies to you. Everyone has to consider their own tastes and choices.
I’m dexterity disabled. Severe RA, my left hand is folded and allows only finger pecking. Right is meh. I do not like platforming in any form. I will never like platforming, and would be a waste to buy HoT.
I see that Vert Platforming has increased with every content addition. I am looking for a new MMO that can actually see worth in more than one demographic of players.
I’m too busy playing and having fun in HoT to convince you.
shrug

Players don’t care if you buy HoT or why you do or don’t buy it either.
The expansion zones and fights are superior to Tyria in every way possible.
And in the future, you might want to check out videos or streams to see a product before you buy it, much better than threads like this.
the new pve maps are 10x better than anything in the base game…….exploration is no longer mindless, but not hard…its somewhat like a platformer once you have basic glider and mushroom jump (which you can get in the first hour or 2 in game). mobs are a bit more difficult and varied in behavior than base game, but still not so hard that you can’t travel solo. the events are mostly familiar, but some are new and pretty cool (in the first zone, there’s part of an event chain where you defend high ground on a ruin wall with rifles against hordes of mordrem…basically archer-like castle defense).
and probably more important to you, the main complaints people had at launch are gone. story mode is no longer unreasonably gated by masteries,, mobs guarding HP and Mastery points in the first zone were nerfed so that even a mediocre player will have no problem getting them, and the amount of hero points to earn your elite spec was reduced from 400 to 250.
there is no valid “grind” or “gating” complaint anymore.
i can’t recommend the new content enough….if you found the base game too easy/boring/mindless. its not crazing hard mode…but there is a lot to explore and loot is quite nice.
there’s a bunch of other stuff, like the new class and new class specs, new gear stats (that are actually good), guild halls, new skins, new ways to get legendaries, tons of new collections/items, and the things that will come shortly like raids and new legendaries.
game isn’t perfect, but bugs are surprisingly few for a new expac launch and overall, i enjoy the new content significantly more than the base game in every respect.

i only came in because i thought this was about map difficulty and was going to see if i could give tips or learn some new ones.
aint nobody got time to convince you to buy HoT OP, if you are really interested do some research, make up your own mind

Hello Mr. Kettle, have you met Mr. Pot ?
I’m too busy playing and having fun in HoT to convince you.

Couldn’t agree more.

My question is, what are your expectations for a GW2 expansion? Or expansions in general? Heart of Thorns offers many things, but it’s impossible to say whether it will meet your standards without knowing what those standards are.
I suppose that doesn’t make it sound like a very good expansion, but it really does seem to be hit or miss for people. They either love most of it or hate most of it.
Why do you need someone to convince you? Honestly. If I ever needed to ask someone “convince me on this thing,” I was already towards getting the thing. You have tons of positive feedback on the r/guildwars2 subreddit. Check that out if you want positivity.
If you really enjoyed the core game the way that it was with that level of difficulty then you will hate Heart of Thorns, Heart of Thorns requires you to have a skill level on par with an action based console game, if you are bad at reading enemy mechanics then you will either be one shoted or dead within seconds even with tanky builds/gear. I’m currently in the process of getting a refund as we speak.
P.S. If you do buy it and have trouble adapting to the difficulty level any thread you open in the forums will be flamed by jerks that will call you a baddie and learn to play; similar to what your going through now just asking for simple testimonials; this community is toxic as you can clearly see.
Who needs that kind of abuse play something else.

Stop giving these guys the time of day. They are trying to make it your responsibility to make them like the game when it’s not. It’s all on them. They don’t deserve your time.

the forums are the vocal minority of people who have huge chips on their shoulders, you’ll see baseless conjecture like people taking their bad experience and taring the game with that brush. The game is not perfect, far from. but the expansion was fun, the elite specializations bring alot of cool new options to approach your class you might have been playing for x amount of years.
The zones are vast and always keep you on your toes, you may have to adapt to some things first or learn the tells of mobs but it’s NOWHERE near as hard as some people make it out to be.
The new metachains are insanely fun with organized groups, you may have to go out of your way to get an organized map but the scope and premise of them is incredibly fun, working along side other ‘zergs’ hidden from you to a common goal each a crucial link in the chain.
The story has its flaws, it’s a huge leap in storytelling but some of the things seem very up in the air till the next living season, so if you’re a huge lore fanatic you may be left somewhat wanting at the end, but it wraps up the mordremoth line nicely enough.
I mean in the end you’re paying for access to the maguuma masterys, your elite spec and 4 new zones to play around in with new toys and a new story. If you think you can live without them then save your money.
No one cares if you buy it dont waste threads with such topics
Players don’t care if you buy HoT or why you do or don’t buy it either.
Yes, I think that’s the most important point in this thread. There are plenty of good reasons that we enjoy HoT, but whether you enjoy it or not is your business, and ultimately it doesn’t really matter much. Whether you enjoy it or not, it doesn’t take away from anyone else’s enjoyment.
you spend complaining about it on the forums, you’d be
done by now.”

Read what I said again, and again if you have to…then understand this…the decision on whether or not to purchase HoT is only a decision you can make. If you’ve already decided not to buy it, then don’t I, nor should anyone else have to convince you to buy it. It’s a game, it has been advertised, advertisements are designed to ENTICE you to buy something, not convince you, two different subjects. So maybe you should correct your question to be “why is so hard for you to entice me to buy HoT”, replace convince with entice and you’ll be asking the right question.
Why is it hard for some people to make thread titles actually about the topic they want to discuss?
These “Convince me …” threads are all the same. The OP’s purpose is to insult anyone who tries to convince them to do the “pro” course of action. Buy the expansion. Play a particular profession. Do a particular playstyle. Doesn’t matter anything we say.
It’s T-bait, plain and simple.
