so we are getting a new profession, will we get a new character slot so we can try it out?
if you can’t answer that now could you put the question forward to be answered in the coming weeks?

An interesting question. In most MMORPGs, the answer is an automatic “no”. On the other hand, Guild Wars precedent has provided +2 character slots for adding Factions and Nightfall, which introduced two professions each. But, back on the first hand, it could be argued that an expansion is not on the same level as a full campaign.

So it’s an interesting question to be sure; I’d like to hear the answer, as well.

I’d assume not, since we can buy them already. GW1 gave us more slots because we couldn’t do that.

I hope we’ll get that slot, since we’ll already be paying for the expansion…
Plus i have all the slots occupied, it’d be a pain to delete one character

I think we would need a new character slot, if the masteries and new profession changes things in a certain way.

I don’t think that option was added until later.

not sure when it was added precisely, but i remember getting char slots pretty early on…

I would rather think that the answer is yes, with the upcoming new revenant class would be kinda rip-off to have to pay for expansion as well as character slot

Well, there are usually things packaged with an expansion, like cosmetics and in-game currency/items. Maybe they’ll include an extra character slot in the package. That’s how I’d do it.
