So, I’ve seen lots of videos and theories linkin Scarlet to one of the remaining elder dragons, but what if she’s working for the one we think is already dead- Zhaintan.
We don’t know we killed him for sure or if elder dragons can at all be killed. All we saw was his damaged body fall.
Also this might solve some lore problems with continuing the story of the world with the existence of the personal story and the pact.
What if Zhaitan is not dead (in essence atleast) and has corrupted Scarlet as a champion to find him a new body (the hybrid experiments).
What if the pact can’t exist if the orders get somehow attacked and destroyed (hinted by the map in the secret base in the latest update).
What if the player character does not get a leading role in lore of the world due to the MMO-nature of it but instead in the story of his/her cholsen order.
What if it is Zhaitan and this ties up the personal story with the living world one and this is leading to his real defeat.
What is this is somehow linked to the reason Tequatl got stronger (it was said where is lore behind that)
A lot of people were not happy with the personal story and how it ended but what if this is its real ending or its continuation with Zhaitan.
And of course, what if I’m wrong and why my theory can’t hold up for some reason I’ve missed?

Apart from ArenaNet stating this part of the story wouldn’t be about dragons, and the fact that the Living Story takes place seperate from the Personal Story? The end boss could be undefeated in some players’ versions of the Personal Story.

i think there might have been some misunderstanding on the quote on “not about dragons”. IIRC, it was “we won’t see a new dragon in 2013”. to say this story isn’t about dragons, with all the gathered info, is a bit silly. there’s even a voice clip of scarlet talking about dragons, telling us to “be afraid” of them.

The quote was, I believe, “we won’t see dragons before Scarlet’s arc is over.” Though that doesn’t mean it won’t somehow lead into a dragon arc.

As to Scarlet being linked to Zhaitan – I included that amongst possibilities myself with this past release. And it can be even with Zhaitan’s death. If you go to Arah explorable, specifically Seer path, then you’ll note the Risen still act as if Zhaitan is alive – doesn’t mean he is, it just means his corruptive influence remains even post-mortem. So if Scarlet was influenced pre-Zhaitan’s fall, then the influence will remain even with his death. Theoretically that is – but it’s all theoretical if Elder Dragons can influence sylvari.

And come to think of it… such may be possible. During the personal story step Close the Eye a sylvari is taken prisoner and turned insane – rather than killed. Though if the wiki is correct she becomes healed again (I’m… not sure such is true), such may have happened to Scarlet.

Interesting about arah I hadn’t noticed that.
Regarding Scarlet’s corruption.

Starting around the 18min mark he begins explaining how she could have been corrupted by a dragon. TLDR of that :
-maybe the dream shields them from corruption
-there is NPC dialoge where a sylvary says that she lost contact with the dream for a split second while passing an asura gate
-in the short story “what scarlet saw” she may had lost her connection to the dream for a prolonged period of time and hence corrupted.

Yes, I know of Blaithnat and that is exactly what the wiki says. But I don’t recall anything stating that the Mad Prisoner is Blaithnat. Nor did I find such on the wiki.

Blaithnat only shows up if you did that branch, instead of the mirror one, and they share the same portrait. I believe she also thanks you for rescuing her if talked to immediately after the quest, though not later down the line.

Blaithnat showed up for all my characters… None who’ve reached Victory or Death/The Source of Orr had done Close the Eye – they all did Through the Looking Glass. I explicitly remember that dialogue.

I’ll laugh if they’re extremely literal with that wording. After we kill Scarlet in the final battle, or she kills herself (since it’s hard to tell with crazy people), that could technically be considered the end of her arc. She would be dead after all, and her demise either outright or by domino effect triggers the awakening or emergence of the Elder Dragon.
