Awesome Job Anet! (possible spoilers!!)
Yay someone likes the new patch! highfive
The degree is arbitrary. The definition’s blurred.
If I’m to choose between one evil and another, I’d rather not choose at all.
Just chiming in to add my praise. I thought the instance in the last patch was a vast improvement, but I still had some complaints. Nothing like that here. You even managed to make it fun to be called an idiot.
I am torn on EotM though. Beautiful zone, but red managed to grab and hold our keep very early on, so that’s flavored my perception. Still, that’s the most fun I’ve had falling to my death since the Maelstrom’s Bile vista!
Aaron are you NA or EU? On NA we reds are in need of a nerf :P

I do not pup up here frequently, but this time I must say good job Anet! The story-telling is improving, I just hope you will keep it on this track!
I really liked this update. It did a great job in recapping everything and made you feel its all leading somewhere big. The character development was great (Rox’s mate, Taimi’s legs, Braham and his mother, Mai Trin back in the action!) And if it hadn’t been said, the music in the last instance was amazing. THAT gave me goosebumps. I’m truly excited how this will end.

NA. Thanks for being honest, but it was more our own fault. XD
Indeed most of the posts are about i hate this, or we need that to happen or in general its ppl QQing about everything. Praise needs to be dished out now and then so Anet knows what the player base wants and can adjust to it. Good Job Anet this patch was really good, really moved the plot by a lot.
I did the LS step where we check all the Scarlet’s evidences and I had a loregarsm
The way it was written and developed allowed the players that followed the whole story excited and also players that just got the game updated to the story, Anet really nailed with this update.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
Well i chime in. It was … nice…
I am sorry, i do not want to “QQ”, but it was just that: nice.
pro
I do not have a problem with the performance or the characters. They were all great.
I liked the character developement and the “investigation” if you want to call it that (it seriously was more guided tour through the LS so far, pointing everyone in the same direction).
The Scarlet parts were bad… in weird good way. To be honest i did not like them, but they did what they had to do… they were just too flat (and a bit buggy, sound skipped a few times) and too obvious… and where are they from anyway?
The writing made it seem that we, the heroes, are actually pointing the NPCs into a direction.
That was great, but still felt weird. It does not really click for me for now, but simply because it wasn`t like that.
I rarely felt like i was interacting with them.
contra
While i praise that, it is also what i did not like. Simply because it is not my character, but the words of the writer which is moving the NPCs. I cannot make a choice and it is still a straight line.
It is however a great start and i hope they expand on it.
Another thing that i somehow did not like is the timing. Again all this information that was laid out before us was stuff we knew, some of it even for a year.
In the end it mostly got me to ask more then answering anything, since most of the “answers” we got were really anticlimactic, mostly due to the fact that we are just told about that.
(that and i did not like the twist. but that is my personal opinion)
However my maingripe with this whole thing is that it did in no way redeem the people of Tyria, but just proves even more how stupid or even uninterested in Scarlet they are.
Again, it seems that only very few people seem to care about her in the world. In the final letter the council of LA even states that they do not care.
Last patch showed us that the charr do not really care (yeah rythlock is wandering around now, but still… he sends Rox to fight her…)
Logan and the Seraph.. we haven`t seen them do anything since jubilee.
The Priory has “artifacts” but the conclusion does an ex-member and now unofficial detective (she calls herself that, but she doesn`t even have an office. if anything she is aspireing in my opinion).
I did not want to ramble so much. The patch is nice, it goes into the right direction, however the LS in general really needs a reality check (funny thing to say for an fantasy rpg, right)
i liked what they delivered, but i think it could’ve been better paced within the release. “light on content” is an understatement, you could wrap up the whole LS part of it in under an hour without rushing (not counting the countless hours spent waiting for EotM to open due to those bugs).
like, you had a token “talk to this person to move story” moment, then a character development instance, then another “talk to this person to move story” moment, and then a crapton of info dump in one instance.
even exploring all dialogue options and sitting around NPCs to listen to their (superb, surprisingly) voiced dialogue, even without using a single waypoint during the whole story, i still wrapped it up really quickly.
i know the new map is supposed to be the star of the show, but LS-wise it felt more like a teaser than an actual release.
TL;DR: good job on the writing, not so good on spacing the information and character development through the release to give us something to do for more than an hour.
Idk, personally this release is one of my favorite in a long time, although I have to agree that the content itself is really fast. I cannot say that I dislike that though. I mean I much prefer 1 hour of content that drops this much information and character development then two weeks of achievement grinding for next to no new information or character development. I agree there might be a happy medium somewhere, but this is a step in the right direction in my book.
