Guild Wars 2

I had doubts about starting this in Lore or Living World, but I ended up puting it here because I want to discuss/speculate on the possible origins of this and how would it fit Tyria.

So among 150 icons found by data miners, there were some Basketball icons (there were Keg Brawl icons too and they’re different, there are even achievement tabs for each one according to the new icons for achievements):

I have to say that I love this as it’s the combination of 2 of my biggest passions (the NBA and Guild Wars 2 take a looooong time from me every day).

The icons clearly look like real world basketball with present day uniforms. We know that Keg Brawl was a Norn sport that imitates real world rugby in a form that fits Tyria and the Norn, but this is clearly the adaptation of Basketball to Tyria, not something that looks like Basketball.

Some time ago I was thinking about how a Basketball team would look with GW2 playable races: Asuras make perfect Point Guards with their high IQ and being the samellest race, Sylvari are higher but with a light frame would make good Shooting Guards, Humans as the balanced race would be Small Forwards with a combination of backcourt and frontcourt skills, Charr with their combination of size and leaping could be perfect Power Forwards and Norn would be Centers with their size and strong frame (I know if it becomes playable they won’t make divisions among races, but that was my perfect team, maybe switching Norn and Charr as Charr are bigger than Norn and there are very athletic Norn and as good hunters they know how to shoot so they could stretch the floor). And now suddenly we get these icons clearly showing the introduction of Basketball skills!

What do you think will be the origins of this? How would be the best way to make it fit into Tyria? Something in an specific capitol or more like a Lion’s Arc (or the new zone) thing to make it multi-racial origin? They found a way to insert “videogames” in Tyria so there are always ways to do this stuff. I’m excited to see how they will do this and if it will be possible to play it like “proper” organized basketball or it will end up looking like a bunch of players runing in the same direction to get the ball :P

Nothing. Just like the things that 90% of the new things that are added to the game. We will have basketball because they added basketball.

There will be an NPC who says “Oh hai I invented this new game”. Same as with Dragon Ball…
