Be afraid of dragons.
You can’t get anything from that.
It’s meaningless drivel.
At a later point in time we might able to come back and say “oh- that’s what that meant”- but this by itself cannot do anything.
You can do better than that.
Scarlet directly implying that she has something to do with dragons is meaningless?
(considering her personality i wouldn’t take it just as a meaningless drivel as you say)
“Be afraid of dragons” in no way ‘implies’ anything.
You can come back later and say “this is what that meant” but the statement is meaningless.
To try and theorize based upon this statement would be as useful as throwing rice in to the air in order to make a house.
She may as well of said “Something big is coming”. Or “You better watch out”.
Yes, they’re words. And yes they have a meaning, and yes you can say “ooo- this must mean something”. But what that something is cannot be in any way determined by the statement itself. So it’s meaningless, it’s without meaning.
Knowing Anet, it probably means that Scarlet created the dragons, as a means of distraction, while she is working on her true masterplan, which can not fail, no matter how much of her minions we kill.
In all seriousness, it may be related to the Thaumanova incident. Haven’t played the fractal yet, but as far as I know it has to do with Inquest doing tests on draconic energies.
I don’t see any implications that her line relates her to the dragons. Probably her taunting the Pact. Does reminds me of the Flame Legion Shaman prisoner from the end of Flame and Frost telling us to go fight the dragons else we’d die acting as if he’d be fine – which I think was a future nod to the fact that Scarlet views herself to be top of the food chain, where the only potential threat to her is the Elder Dragons and even that’s questionable, so she would lead others to think that she has some fullproof plan to survive the dragons and thus she’s taunting us because the dragons are acting up and not only do we not know it but she’s “going to be fine anyways” or some such (not true of course).
If this is official. How do we know it isn’t just Tara Strong and/or ArenaNet pulling our leg? Or someone who managed to mimic Tara’s VO of Scarlet trolling folks? Or it being a tossed away line for a plot they decided to scrap?
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.

The files are from that_shaman, a prominent data-miner in reddit, so I have no doubts it’s legit. But Anet tends to make dialogues, even record them, and not use them for whatever reason. They might one day, they might not. They hold no meaning whatsoever because we don’t know if they’ll ever be implemented.
It’s not from That_Shaman, and it’s not Data-mined (maybe, but this is not a guy who claim to be data-miner who post it on reddit.)
In fact, that was a redditor named Scarlet Briar .
My bad, saw the list at the side and didn’t see it was “related”. The point stand though, it has no meaning until it’s in-game, if it ever is.
“Scarlet Did It”
You see we as players thought we pressed “one” a lot and killed Zhaitan. The truth is, Scarlet Did It.
Konig, why wouldn’t Scarlet’s story eventually lead back to dragons? I believe 110% that it will lead to the reveal of another Elder Dragon, I am still convinced that the Living World is, and was intended to be used to bridge the gap between expansions, if each expansion introduces a new Elder Dragon, why would the story inbetween the expansions be anything but a lead up to the next Elder Dragon?
Yes, a lot of these stories seem disjointed but I really feel like either Scarlet is working with an Elder Dragon, maybe Mordremoth, maybe his corruption is Chaos, which would fit perfectly into her anti Dream/Nightmare outlook on life. Or, Scarlet is wanting to harness the power of an Elder Dragon, and is gathering various bits and pieces from each alliance to achieve that end.
It all comes down to this, they have said that the Living World is like a TV show, it’s episodic, and that’s great. But NO great TV show out there has so many episodes not relating back to the main story arc, and it would be hard to argue against the fact that the main story arc of Guild Wars 2 is the Elder Dragons.
If Scarlet’s story ends up having nothing to do with the Elder Dragons, I will probably stop playing this game, cause that is months of my life wasted on a story that went nowhere. I believe this audio clip to be genuine and it definitely supports my belief that this Scarlet storyline all ties back into the Elder Dragons.
And I believe that when it comes time for her plan to come to fruition, and when she tries to harness or control the power of an Elder Dragon to her ends, she will not be able to control it (playing with powers that are beyond her control) and that will be the definitive end of Scarlet that ANet has been saying will eventually happen.
@webtoehobbit: I never said Scarlet’s story wouldn’t eventually lead back to dragons, I said that line doesn’t imply anything specific about Scarlet in relation to the Elder Dragon.
However, I do not see why Scarlet’s story would need to lead back to dragons, simply because there’s no need for such. Her story can end and then we have the next threat show itself. There doesn’t need to be a continuous tie between arcs. Besides, we already know of Jormag’s existence whom is already pushing south and even attepted via the Sons of Svanir to strike at Lion’s Arch; and we know of Primordus’ existence who’s been gathering power beneath our very feet for 200 years.
The Living Story is not a gap between expansions. The stated intent for the Living Story – and this is really just experimentation occuring on ArenaNet’s part – is to replace expansions. And Scarlet’s story is just a “filler arc” as some would call it to take up time between Zhaitan and the next Elder Dragon while ArenaNet figures out how to make said next ED more epic than Zhaitan. This was explicitly stated by Scott McGough in an interview with TowerTalk, stating that they intend to do a dragon every couple years (whether this is literal in meaning “every 2 years we will have a dragon plot” thus 2014 will see the introduction of the next dragon plot, or if he was being loose and might as well have said “every other plot will be dragons” or even “every now and then will be dragons.”). As things stand, sadly, there will not be any expansions. Unless something new’s come up, which I think I recall mention of such a thing but never saw a source. And lastly, the Living Story isn’t disjointed in the least – and to me, that’s the issue. It’s not a “Living World” as they claim but “Scarlet’s Progressional Story”
There really is no need to reveal either the DSD or Mordremoth. Nor is there a need to have Scarlet working for one (though my theory is that she’s being influenced – unknowingly – by Mordremoth, similar to the Nightmare Court – through this though, I’m seeing Mordremoth as a form of puppeteer mastermind akin to Abaddon). And side note: Mordremoth’s corruption isn’t chaos. We see some of it in CoE/Infinity Coil Reactor/Thaumanova(possibly on latter, most likely rather).
As hinted in another thread titled “Theorycrafting on Scarlet” which has been derailed into the nether by Scarlet haters despite my request to avoid unrelated hating on Scarlet in the thread since there’s enough of that elsewhere, my personal theory on Scarlet is that she’s being manipulated by Mordremoth to destroy the sylvari race – she thinks she’s trying to free them from the Dream and via that predestination, though, and that she’s acting independently.
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.
Hey Konig, did you ever think that it’s not the Sylvari that Mordy wants destroyed, but just the dream. The dream and by corollary the nightmare, could be disruptive noise that is preventing Mordy from controlling the Sylvari. Destroy the dream, or rather Ventrari’s tablet’s affect on the the dream and you have a new base of power.
As far as Scarlet is concerned, she does some to be possessed by another after exiting the sensory depravation chamber. My problem with that is I simply can’t think of another example of that happening in Tyria.
Konig, you know, you are not always right. And this is where I prove you wrong. I will quote what you said, “There will not be any expansions.” But here, just three months ago, Colin was interviewed and said that they haven’t decided on whether they will do a traditional expansion or not, they’re still deciding, want proof? Here it is:
Fast forward to the 4:00 mark
So I am not just some idiot posting about an expansion when I know they have denied doing one, but unless there has been an interview after this one that definitely says NO expansions, then this CLEARLY states that it could still happen.
I stated what I believe to be my theory on what the Living World is going to end up being, no need to tear every single one of my posts apart, well, not just mine, but everyone else’s too it seems.
Firstly, I know full well I’m not always right. Secondly, I did state that “Unless something new’s come up, which I think I recall mention of such a thing but never saw a source.” I didn’t mean to be that I was infallible, just that everything I’ve seen – even an interview with TowerTalk released… actually 3 days after your Youtube link.
Interesting contradition.
But what Colin states there is just a more flimsy non-solid way of saying what they’ve been stating before. What was said previously was, paraphrased, “we want to replace expansions with living story updates and are pushing for that, but if it doesn’t work as we hope we will consider expansions again.” Aka “no plans for expansions now, but we may consider it if our plans flunk out.” The interview with Scott states that the next Living Story plot after Scarlet will be Elder Dragon focused.
Take it as you will, but all of it still points to me as the same old same old: “we intend to have living story updates replace the need for expansions.”
It “can” happen but ArenaNet doesn’t want it to. It’s their begrudging plan B.
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.
The biggest disappointment I can see coming from the Living Story system taking over the expansions is the fact that so much is lost in the fact that it is temporary content. My last character will be able to kill Zhaitan, but maybe by that time have to skip over a dragon on to the next? There has to be a little give and take between the “everything’s temporary” and “permanent expansions” models. I mean, otherwise new players get lost for reasons mentioned before about Scarlet. When you are just now coming into this content, what’s your reason for taking Scarlet down?
