If you take out the first instance, I would agree with you 100%.

But that first instance really puts a damper on me. Similar to the first instance of E4, and less so but also first instance of E3, it just felt jarring.

Dear ANet writers,
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.

Yeah, it didn’t really feel like it fit.

The rest of the patch though was simply amazing. Felt like I was playing GW1 again.

Yes that first instance was a bit odd, and didn’t seem to fit that well, but all in all the story has seen a massive improvement.

When I saw Kas and Jory in Hidden Arcana, I was afraid that they were coming to spoil an otherwise great improvement in story telling. I figured they were here to attempt to steal all the attention, and turn it into yet another “lesbians flirting” instance. To my surprise, they actually acted how NPC’s should act: they didn’t come in to try to hog all the attention, but they actually facilitated the story.

After loathing these two characters for so long, for their extremely shallow character, their constant, obnoxious flirting and acting like little more than caricatures… I actually thought that they were handled rather well there, and actually added to the story instance.

If this is an indication on how future GW2 updates are going to be, I’m actually a bit excited. Same thing with the rest of my guild and all my other contacts in game, moral and expectations have been so low for this game for so long… but a lot of people seem to be agreeing that this was a very viable, and very good change in quality of GW2’s updates.

If this marked change in quality has anything to do with the new Head of Narrative Leah Hoyer, I’d like to give my thanks to her.

I suppose it’s a way to give closure or a proper sendoff towards Belinda as we last saw her in a very gruesome fashion. I never had that much of an issue with Kas and Jory to begin with as I have seen couples kind of behave like that.

As for how the update was handled, I too am very pleased. It wasn’t perfect but it kitten exceeded my expectations.

Overall, quite satisfied with the first part of the second half of LS2, as for the complaints with the Fort Salma mission…I’m going to have to disagree a little, sometimes, if you’re one to believe in spirits…the theory goes that when someone dies suddenly and unexpectedly, their spirit does not know that they are dead and can become confused. This would explain why they think everyone is Mordrem, as for fighting them. I’ll have to try it again, but I believe it’s quite possible to only have to fight the two Veterans blocking the door. I know when I did it, I killed those two and the first two normal ones in the bottom of the pit, but just ran around the other 2 normal ones at the other end and out the door…they did follow and attack me, but then I triggered the cut scene…and low and behold…nothing happened while watching the cut scene(when Belinda fused her soul with he Delaqua family blade).

I thought it was great!!

Many questions were answered, and many others left more questions. I like that! It encourages exploration and research

As far as the first part, I thought it was done well. It did bring closure to Belindas death, but also the possibilities of the Delaqua family blade being infused. As far as the ghosts in Fort Salama, I thought they behaved almost exactly like the Ascalonian ghosts, in that they viewed everyone as an enemy. And it fits very nicely. I am hoping the next chapter deals with the ghost infused blade, and can see it tying in somehow to Rytlocks mission and the Ascalonian ghosts.

@Zaklex I can confirm that those two are the only required foes. A hard right to the stairs and across the southern wall and the others never even knew I was there. Makes replaying not so onerous, although the cutscene still has to be sat through.

R.I.P., Old Man of Auld Red Wharf. Gone but never forgotten.

See my new signature. Not the best patch ever, but certainly a step up from previous LS updates.

You don’t win friends with salad! Sorry I just got caught up in the rhythm.

We see confused spirits in Tyria. Just about all ghosts in Brisban Wildlands are confused and lost.

These are all confused ghosts. Confused ghosts will often not realize they are dead, they may think that they’re still in the situation they were in during or near death, but they in no ever situation in the past mistaking the player for whom they are.
