blood legion probably, but since rytlock brings the knowledge about it in back and teaches people, probably anyone can learn it.

I’d say the Blood Legion fits most and the Iron Legion fits least.

The legion you want to play is the best. Anet is not adding any story to what already exists. Play the story line you want to play. I am going Ash simply because its the only one I haven’t played.

I’d say Flame probably is the best fit, but since they’re not playable, probably blood or ash- Blood would have presumably the best chance to learn as well as the best use for what amounts to a frontline mage, but Ash already has an association with the more morbid spellcasters (necromancers and theives). Iron, as the progressive legion marching lockstep into the future, would be the least easy fit for a profession drawing power solely from the past. That said, Dresden is absolutely correct. You wouldn’t break lore playing an Iron revenant. Don’t feel bound by these responses unless you want to be.

Flame Legion. They’re stuck on the past (Revenants are scholars seeking knowledge of the past), and they like to mix magic with melee (which revenants like to do too).

But since they’re not playable, I’d argue Ash, then Blood second.

Iron doesn’t make much sense as they’re the most progressive of all three allied High Legions – and as I said, Revenants are scholars that seek to the past.

The reason I say Ash is because they’ve got the second heaviest use of magic users – necromancers, thieves, and mesmers are common members of Ash (more so than the other legions).

It needs to be kept in mind that Rytlock is a bit of an oddball charr, so while he’s Blood and a revenant, that doesn’t mean that Blood is the best legion for revenants. They’re all about brute force first and foremost – kill the enemy, right in front and center. Rytlock has, ever since Edge of Destiny, been hinted or explicitly shown to be a researcher of the past, to study one’s enemy to defeat them, and open to ideas that most charr are not. No other blood legion soldier or officer has shown to think like this – in fact, the ONLY charr to show thoughts like this is Smodur, who is also an odd charr, but rather than being a researcher of the past to learn about his enemy like Rytlock, he looks to the past to steer the charr clear of that past.

Rytlock is also more open to magic than other charr tend to be, outright suggesting suspected magic users to be part of the blood PC’s warband, utilizing his magic sword whenever possible, and hardly – if ever – scoffing at others’ magic. Very unlike other charr. And this was before his comment in Season 2 that if magic would cure the Foefire’s effect he’d put on a cowl and call himself Shaman Brimstone (that needs to be used in HoT or I am disappointed in Anet).

So yeah… I’d say Ash.

Dear ANet writers,
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.

I’d say the scholar side would fit Iron legion’s mindset at times, though the drawing power from past heroes directly (in a sense) wouldn’t fit as well.

Honestly, all legions would use them, but I’d agree perhaps that Ash might have more then the other two.

If you are looking for an authenticity standpoint as far as the lore goes well being a charr magic user is already unusual, not impossible or unheard of by any means but usually charr (at least the ones we play as) tend to be not as trusting of magic as other races, with that said, I would say blood or ash would make the most sense since, both are more accepting of magic as long as it can serve a purpose, blood employ’s guardians to help support in battle and ash legion has mesmer magic in order to help with covert operations, Iron legion would definitely be less likely, not impossible for a revenant to be part of iron legion, but it would be seen as more taboo since iron legion relies on gadgets and machines of war and don’t tend to use magic

Actually, you see guardians of Iron or Blood legion both.

They don’t blindly trust or like magic, but Charr are pragmatic. They aren’t going to simply stop using it widely when it has very useful bonuses.

Just Iron. Blood NPCs are typically warriors and no-pet rangers. Iron NPCs are typically guardian or engineer. Ash NPCs are typically thief or necromancer. It depends on the NPC name usually.

But while we see a lot of guardian Iron soldiers, in lore they’re actually supposed to be the least common profession amongst the charr. I’d call this an oversight by giving a generic NPC guardian skills, and said generic NPC being used to fill in places to make the world seem more alive – without the designer who made the generic NPCs realizing that guardians are not common to charr.

Its a tough call… but I’d say the Revanent has insight into all 4 Legions due to their mist connections. Even the existing classes have uneven distribution in the Legions by theme alone.

I’d come to the conclusion that the Revanent is more akin to the Shaman caste, which previously existed within all 4 legions, rather then being favored by any specific legion. They combine Martial prowess, Mysticism, Insight and Fortitude, which in essence are Blood, Flame, Ash and Iron legions respectively. But their view of the world is much broader and unfocused, making them outcasts within the narrow mindset of legion’s individual disciplines.

If anything, they are setting Rytlock up as a potential Khan-Ur.
