Bonus Mission Pack?
The Foefire (know it’s also a fractal but we never get to actually see it happen)
This is actually a misconception. That city looks nothing like Ascalon City, and there were Ash Legion tents used by Flame Legion so it couldn’t have been during the Foefire since the rebellion was already underway.
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.

Hmm didn’t even think of that. Just figured the big event right before we leave was the Foefire but didn’t take the time to realize other clues. I just thought the city looked different because none of the old areas besides the HoM seem to look anything like they did in GW1 due to different designers or something (which saddened me since I wish there were more places that hadn’t changed much at all). Thanks for clearing that up.
While I’d love for something like this to happen (since I don’t have to pay out of game money for it anymore) I don’t see it happening anytime soon. The bonus missions were released after all the other campaigns and stuff were, and they started working on GW2. So it was a way of like keeping the fans there since they weren’t making any more expansions.
In short, I’d like it, but I don’t see it coming soon. Also, now that I think about it, fractals kind of are like this. A Fractal could be any event in time or space, so they could just add new ones to fotm that are historic events in Tyria, such as the ones you mentioned.
Bleh, the more I think about it, the more problems I find. Having these bonus missions would also be weird, because unlike gw1, you pretty much have to party with others for dungeons and whatnot. So unless they made the missions as easy as your PS, then you’d all be running around as Livia while she’s getting the scepter >.<
But, I digress. Fun ones:
Any interesting after story of Heroes/Henches from gw1 (ebonhawke founding would be nice).
Luxons/Kurzicks being unified.
Joko enslaving Elona.
The Guild Wars (you know, since that’s kinda the reason why we’re here)
Important race-specific events that made them how they are (firstborn Sylvari stuff, the Norn fleeing Jormag, Kalla Scorchrazor’s female empowerment)
Being able to play as a Karka (just so I can feel powerful for a little bit)
So unless they made the missions as easy as your PS, then you’d all be running around as Livia while she’s getting the scepter >.<
Well since we already have the PS system in place, it could function a lot like one. Plus the Bonus Mission Pack used a specific build and the entire mission was designed around it so they could make it at a balanced level of challenging. But true, it may not happen because of the Fractals. Just thought it was a fun topic to think about.
The Guild Wars (you know, since that’s kinda the reason why we’re here)
This so much! I actually once had the idea of making an RTS about the Guild Wars, with the 3 human nations, Charr and unspecified guilds as factions. I think they could make a broader brand out of the GW franchise, however I also understand that they are MMO designers, so switching to a RTS game might not be easy or even possible for Anet, especially with the NC Soft as publisher.
I think one mission that would be awesome would the final fight between Ascalon’s Chosen and the Zealots of the Shiverpeaks.
If there was something like this, I imagine it would very quite far down the line, but hey, it’s fun to speculate
If I was to guess, I’d say they’d tailor the missions to the races, to show a fraction of each race’s history and add some cultural depth.
Human: Perhaps playing through the fleeing/ evacuation from Lion’s Arch as it’s hit by tidal waves and flooding. If it hadn’t been covered in a novel already, I’d suggest the truce talks or the quest for the Claw of the Khan-Ur, a mission similar to ‘The Tengu Accords’ from the original Bonus Mission Pack.
Charr: Here’s an easy one. Kalla Scorchrazer’s involvement in the battle against the Flame Legion! Some retrospective on that period would be fantastic.
Asura: Perhaps a bonus mission showing their underground homes from before EotN, their previous way of life. I don’t see much else that could be as interesting. This is unlikely, of course, because if any Bonus Missions were to be released, they would be most likely to bridge the gap between GW1 and GW2.
Sylvari: Here’s a challenge; a race without more than thirty years of history to draw from. I can only think of playing as one of the Firstborn, maybe dealing with Faolain’s fall into Nightmare.
Norn: The loss against Jormag, the dislodging of his tooth, and the loss of their home in the Far Shiverpeaks would be incredible.
Other great options:
1) The death of Molenin and the destruction of what he stood for by his successors;
2) Dominion of Winds internal politics, giving us some information on a possible future playable race;
3) The secret story behind the Great Collapse in Divinity’s Reach;
4) A mission following the doomed Stone Dwarves’ unending war against the Destroyers underground.
The Foefire (know it’s also a fractal but we never get to actually see it happen)

The foefire was NOT in the fractal, that was actual the charr laying Siege on a part of Ascalon pre-searing, the big event that occured as we ended it was the searing (from what i can tell and seen) it certainly wasn’t the foefire though.
@OP, i would absolutely LOVE this to be an option!! And am really hoping it would be, however i will say that there should be no drops from the missions other than a special skin at the very end (like in the first game) and maybe a handful or generic loot off of mobs that’d be equivalent (or lesser) than you’d get from running around doing something of the same difficulty.

@jblade: Actualy, a lot of the Ascalonian ruins look the same. Ascalon City, the old entrance to the Catacombs, Grendich Courthouse (well, the surface) and Piken Square for starters.
@Durzlla: Nothing indicates that was the Searing either, as no major battles were known for that day – in fact, the opposite is said about that day. In pre-Searing GW1, there’s a lot of lines about the lack of major charr battles, and how the battlefront is mostly quiet (despite the endless charr seen in the town, interestingly enough).
In fact, the area looks quite post-Searing given the land, though that may be due to the siege itself. It may be during the Foefire, but it isn’t Ascalon City and no other major battle is known on that day.
It could easily be a battle from centuries ago just as easily as a battle happening between the Searing and Foefire. There’s no real indication for when the timeframe is.
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.
Except the rather modern siege weapons, but this again, is probably just resources.
It’s definitely possible that it was before the Foefire. In the Searing era they did not linger much in the city and just blew threw to get prisoners and generally kill Ascalonians on the way to Orr.
That was only a small group (of the overall large four Legions). The majority of charr did stay to assault Ascalon.

I think a bonus mission pack to tell a part of the story not told in future free updates or expansions is not something we will see soon as argued before by others. I do hope there will be more factals to tell small story’s. also in a year or so I would like to see some way to relive past events like the karka-incident (scaled to be instanced as a ps). the later I could imagine to be a mission pack in the store.
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
