Braham and Norn surnames.
The norn have no set rules for the family structure so i doubt there is a set culture rules for how the naming is applied. It probably just varies according to what the two parents decide how their household runs.
If I remember this correctly, norns donĀ“t even have “family names” as we know it, they can basically pick their surname to either show off their greatest feat, or, if they have a particullary heroic parent, they can chose the name in fashion Braham did (ie. Erisson, Jorasdottir etc.). But I guess they might inherit a surname after his parents (one of them) and then, if they like, choose their own.
Yeah, Norns choose/earn their surname and they can even change later, like Asgeir Dragonrender, the “dragonrender” is reference to his fight against Jormag and the blow that took its tooth off, obviously he didn’t get that surname as a child.
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
My theory is that, they may start with being named after a parent, then later they may earn another.
I know I called my norn Gunnarsdottir, because it was within whats lorefriendly, and my dad (in rl) is named Gunnar, so I wanted to use that.
Norn who do not have their own feats to talk about, like Braham when we meet him, are named after the more famous of their parents – be it mother or father. When they come to have a legend (of any noteworthy stature) of their own, they adopt a new name at their own discretion. They may even take titles instead of surnames.
In a similar manner, married couples do not necessarily share surnames – though some, such as Knut and Gaerta Whitebear, do.
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.
