Set a man on fire, and he’ll be warm the rest of his life.
– Unknown Fire Elementalist
The destroyed Tower of Nightmares in Kessex Hills is an eyesore nearly as bad as the remains of Scarlet’s “Breachmaker” in Lion’s Arch. With one major difference: the Tower of Nightmares seems to be made up mostly of wood.
If nobody is planning on salvaging all that lumber for repair efforts, then would you mind terribly if my Elementalist burned it all down? (Similarly, my Engineer is prepared to dismantle all the “Energy Probe” remnants scattered across Tyria.)
Let the beauty be restored, already!
I agree, I’d like to see trees come back at least to shroud some of the destruction left over.
Yes, I’d like for us to at least start cleaning up that mess.
My Ele and Engie will be on hand for burning it all to ash.
But that would mean villagers in the affected settlements would have to do something other than choke on poison and complain about. What do you want them to do, move somewhere not full of death and destruction? Work to fix their surroundings instead of waiting for random passerby’s? Gods forbid.
Well, I’ll settle if they just update the textures on later living story chapters to show time passing, moss growing on the wood, some of it breaking down, plants growing around, etc, although I would definitely enjoy a wood chopping festival of sorts.
I figure I earned between 13,000 and 14,000 Festival Tokens in the effort to support the restoration of Lion’s Arch. Can they get a few more people working on that as well?
The lackadaisical reconstruction efforts fly in the face of the city pride that Ree Soesbee portrayed in Sea of Sorrows. The place was smashed several times in its history, and the fierce determination of its inhabitants always brought it back stronger than before.
Where are the waste removal teams? The hole-filling squads? The construction crews? The supportive citizenry pitching in? Did Peneloopee and Bloomanoo bum them out and convince everyone to let Lion’s Arch finally rot?
Or did the MegaServer just put all the repair NPCs in a different instance than the rest of us?
Just face it, we won’t be getting rid of Scarlet’s mark on the world until the writers found a new pet-project to be the new focus whom will cause her own destruction to the world that will remain forevermore. And though that comment’s full of sarcasm, not even the writers can deny how much focus Scarlet got even compared to the better villains of the past…. Despite the character being hated so (and not in the good sense).
Or did the MegaServer just put all the repair NPCs in a different instance than the rest of us?
megaservers haven’t been made canon… yet.
that’s for season 3: leylines and parallel universe tyrias.
But servers and parallel universe Tyrias have been made canon via interview:
“There is a set number of “versions” of Tyria, and that’s the servers: Tarnished Coast, Blackgate, Gate of Madness, etc. Each server is another version of Tyria (or “world”) that exists within the Mists."
It would not surprise me at this point if they write the megaservers into canon as these multiple Tyrias colliding in the Mists and beginning to overlap. Given that such a plot was used already in GW. Ah, wait, that’s GW1 lore, nevermind.
Also, we all know that Season 3 will be dealing with Scarlet Briar’s half-brother’s sister’s cousin’s father’s niece’s half-sister’s soul possessing a mursaat that’s took the magic that was left in each of the Bloodstones, turning them into useless chunks of rubies, off-screen of course.

if they write megaservers into the lore, i’ll laugh out loud.
Yes, burn it.
I think they still don’t get why people stayed in Pre Searing. It was pretty.
They somewhat supported the community, but I don’t think they understood.
Kessex hills were so blunt tbh. Wide, plain and boring textures of grass in every direction with rarely any tree or interesting structure. I like post-ToN map much more, adds diversity to rather boring GW2 Kryta. I liked GW1 version more, variety of swamps, ruins, coasts and trees.
Whenever I have to cross plains of nothing, I yawn.
It adds diversity, yes, but story-wise, you’d think somebody would be working on cleaning up that mess right now, simply for the sake of safety.
Subassessor Prongg of the consortium is now at Black Haven and wants to survey the tower. Obviously a prime site for renovation!
Mordremoth’s in town. I imagine we’ll deal with it first, then the natives can even consider rebuilding.
Let me go and harvest the Tower of Nightmares for wood every day.
