Could a charr Guardian fill the role of a Shaman in the Flame Legion? I know the Guardians use magic, and they are a evolution of the monks/paragons from GW1. But they are more focused around melee then the other scholar classes that would make up a Shaman in the Flame Legion. Yet looking back at GW1: Monks, Elementalist, Mesmers, and Necromancers seemed to fit into the Shaman caste role.

So with 3/4 still around, I’m wondering if 4/4 isn’t still true to them?

Monks are primarily healers. They were a caster that stayed in the background and wore light armor. Typically they dealt next to no damage, but kept allies alive.

Guardians and Monks are two different things.

In GW2, most shamans are elementalists utilizing flame magic.

Keep in mind that in GW1, the Shaman Caste was comprised of all four legions. And back then, monks were part of them. But that doesn’t seem to be so anymore.

@Wing Leigh: Guardians and Monks are indeed two separate things, however it’s point-blank stated in Sea of Sorrows that guardians are formed from the combination of monk, paragon, and ritualist magic.

Dear ANet writers,
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.

Technically any spellcaster can be a shaman. Though we have never seen a flame shaman in heavy armor, nor using guardian magic. We don’t see any mesmer or necromancer shamans either, for that matter. All elementalists that only use fire and earth.

It seems like under Bealfire’s rule the Flame Legion has become even more closed off and specialized than it use to be.
