So im getting close to the part in the person story when i choose an order for my character and im having trouble choosing so i thought id ask peoples thoughts.

My character is a necromancer so im trying to choose if i want him to be a priory scholar looking for tomes on how to be a more powerful necromancer/ eternal life through turning himself into a lich or possible a person with the order of whispers trying to do the same thing but using their shadow connections and such cause the order of whispers just seems so secretive and dark.

whispers is more political imo
priory has more ancient knowledge and whatnot, whereas the orders is set up to have ‘resources’, but really they just know how to influence things

your priory theory does seem a bit more realistic. whispers isn’t dark, just secretive. They really just have a lot of political connections which they use to influence the world. Although you may want to keep in mind that the whispers are the oldest of the orders so they may have some historical things for your necro to find as well.

I haven’t actually played the priory story line yet. I’ve done both of the other orders. Just based on what you’ve told us though i’d say the whispers story line doesn’t really fit that theme at all. Nore does the lore around the order of whispers.

Agreeing with those above, although the Order of Whispers may seem shadowy, they’re really just about finding subtle and devious ways around things, working from the shadows rather than confronting things head on – and yes, they’re quite politically focused. They do have origins in dealing with dark mystical secrets… but the modern Tyrian order doesn’t show much of that.

The Priory is a good bet because their scholars (much like academics in our world) have a diverse range of interests. Any individual scholar is likely to have a pet project or special interest. They’re also quite into the practical applications of knowledge – not to mention the going out and finding things. Your necro might appreciate the excuse to legitimately poke around a bunch of ancient tombs!

Lore aside, you might also want to check out the armour sets each order offers, as they’re about the only exclusive thing resulting from your choice But lore-wise I’d recommend Priory.
