So like…
All of the living world 2 focuses a lot on Marjory & Kasmeer’s relationship, pretty sure the language directly infers they are lovers, that’s pretty much fine.

But then the same style of language is used between Faolin and Caithe? Is this another legit lesbian story or a ‘sisterly’ love. I want to say the latter but, the language just seems so out of context.

-> Legitimately have never been able to tell.

Marjory & Kasmeer are in a relationship.

Caithe & Faolain have some love-like relationship going as well. although it’s more than just a bit more complicated. having the entire separation between the dream and the nightmare court, Faolain having poisoned Caithe before and Faolain having done a couple of things Caithe really does not agree with. (won’t spoil though.)

it’s worth noting that Sylvari view relationships differently compared to humans mostly because they don’t really consider “gender” that much.

Essentially, Faolain and Caithe were lovers coupled in an abusive relationship. They split, and Faolain became the obsessive stalker ex right up to the point she got herself impaled. They did have a ‘romantic’ relationship- it definitely went beyond sisterhood, although it may very well not have had any sexual component.

Nah I’ve seen all the story now, can’t really be spoilers.

That’s a good deduction actually.
There sure are a lot of lead female characters, lol.

Don’t know that much about Sylvari physiology, but since they are ‘lacking reproductive capabilities’ and that their sex/gender is a bit different case that with most other living creatures, i would say that they don’t see that division (sex/gender) the same way as others. I mean that there is no homo/bi/heterosexuality there – and they are choosing partners/lovers regardless of it.

It’s strange that they actually have physical gender aspects but no actual gender in that case. Like the typical physical build of a man/woman with voices to match, but no genitalia or partnering by that. Just seems a bit incongruent.

That’s because Sylvari are built according to “templates”, human templates even.

The same goes for the Fern Hounds which are built according to canine templates.

in short that would mean that all Sylvari more-or-less look like humans who have existed before.
The weird thing being that Sylvari can alter their physical appearance when exposed to significant emotional/psychological change such as:
#. Turning to Nightmare
#. Being corrupted by Mordremoth.
#. Being Canach.

We heard in an interview a long, long time back that they do have, ah, relevant external anatomy, and yes, they can ‘partner’ for pleasure. They just have no biological urge to, and don’t reproduce by it. It’s more about intimacy than horniness.

@Nero Hey, man, don’t disrespect the dark and edgy background! Canach suffered hard to earn that snide angst! :P

Canach was hunted down by a series of assassins.

Also, Caithe’s appearance changed due to her killing Wynne after learning the origins of the sylvari race.

I don’t think we see many – or any, actually – sylvari who change in physical appearance due to turning to Nightmare. Only the fern hounds seem to do so.

Dear ANet writers,
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.

I also dont like how anet portray too much of the said relationship in season 2, even my friend was like “???” when he plays the entire season 2 watching kasmeer and marjory. just my 2 cents
