Confusing Weapon lore-Foefire
For trivial matters like this (no offense is intended, I can see your point and I believe you may be correct) I am sure the developers just chose game mechanics over lore.
Maybe they’re not as static as many believe?
I looked all over on this topic and couldn’t find anything on it. Would love to see what the developers intended (lore wise) for it.
I think the weapons you get from AC could be instead new weapons infused with ghostly essence.
the ascalonian catacombs reward weapons are not the same weapons the ghosts use. what they are, i don’t know, but you wouldn’t be able to wield a ghostly weapon anyway, as they are intangible (as you can’t hold it, they’re as if made of air).
if you want to know why ghost weapons hurt, and why the ghosts are such a pain to kill, i recommend reading ghosts of ascalon, but the gist of it is “magic”. the sword goes through you and hurts you, but only in mind. your body reacts as if it was actually hurt though. think of how people are hurt and die in the matrix. it’s kinda like that.
and when you kill a ghost, you’re basically swinging your sword until they dissipate, like you’d blow a fan to dissipate fire.
I think the weapons you get from AC could be instead new weapons infused with ghostly essence.
I’m inclined to go with this, given that the AC reward weapons go from metal to ghastly from day and night.
But on the actual weapons that ghosts wield – it’s likely the same explanation behind their clothing, cannons, guardian weapons, and the like – not actual spirits/ghosts, but more likely to be ectoplasm that’s been shaped into ghostly objects.
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.
