Confusion about Primordus' location
The CTC wasn’t built to contain Primordus, it just leeched the magical energy bleeding out from his hibernating body to power the old asura gate network. Primordus is very much awake and active in the depths of Tyria, though his exact location is unknown.

Thanks for that clarification. So, the Depths of Tyria is another way of saying ‘anywhere underground in tyria’ ?
^Yes, but it’s hypothesized that it’s in the Maguuma Wastes, specifically. An NPC in Rata Sum says that it’s in the southwest of Tyria, but other than that, yes, we don’t actually know where it is.
A few things questioned in the OP not touched upon:
- Primordus was the cause of the Destroyers – they are his minions. Though in GW1 they were directed and directly made by the Great Destroyer, they acted in the favor of Primordus.
- Primordus was the first of the Elder Dragons to awaken. Upon waking up, he and his minions made a final push to all subterranean races (skritt, murrellow, and remaining asura, etc.) and the dwarves all underwent the Rite of the Great Dwarf to combat him. He had since been clearing tracks of land all across continental Tyria underground and can literally be located anywhere – we don’t know where. This is why his minions are found across the continent.
- There are in-universe theories that the Maguuma Wastes was caused by an Elder Dragon (it was once a jungle but dried up). However, it was pretty heavily arid lands even in GW1. Because of this in-universe theory, players theorize, as Mystic demonstrated, that Primordus was the one behind it. As well as the Great Collapse.
Primordus is the most mobile dragon.
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.
