Hey guys, I am still new to the lore of Guild Wars 2 so I would just like to ask if there are any other continents in Tyria. Knowing that Tyria is part of Elona (Which makes 1 huge continent) and also another continent called Cantha. Are there any other continents present in the world of Tyria?

P.S. I read in a lore that humans came from another planet, any idea what’s the name of the planet?

Thanks

The world is named Tyria, as is the continent we currently are on. Elona belongs to the same supercontinent as Tyria (the name of this supercontinent is unknown). As you correctly said, there is also Cantha to the far south.

The other continents are unknown to us right now. There is one that could have possibly been the setting of the canceled Guild Wars: Uthopia campaign. It was assumed to be influenced by mesoamerica. All speculation though.

The only other landmass we knew were the Battle Isles, somewhere between Tyria and Cantha.

We also have no idea what planet humanity came from.

I see. Thanks! Btw, where is the Mists right now? Is it in Tyria or is it in another location?

The mists are more or less the universe in which GW takes place in. (Possibly even multi-verse). I can’t really say where they are, except they are not in Tyria, more likely around it.
You have to keep in mind that the Mists are a highley magical place, that can spontaneously create live and places. Whenever you play PvP, either sPvP or WvW, you are in the Mists. Fractals are of course also set in the Mists. Also the black-green portals in the Godlost Swamp and Lorna’s Pass lead to the Underworld, which is part of the Mists. Norn Havrouns have the ability to phase into the Mists, granted by the animal spirits.

In GW1 there were even more ways to get into the Mists. Usually it was one of the human gods inviting an adventurer into his domain (Grenth = Underworld, Balthazar = Fissure of Woe). However a human mage called Lord Odran managed to open more portals, all across Tyria, leading to the Mists, with the goal of reaching the Hall of Heroes. This hall is the center of the Mists, a place were the souls of the bravest heroes would hold eternal tournaments to proof themselves worthy.

The last way into the Mists, led into the Realm of Torment, the realm of the fallen god Abaddon. The portal was in the Desolation, in Elona and was possibly closed when Kormir took over the realm.

Whoah. That is one big revelation to me. Really, it’s surprising to find out that the Mists is probably the multiverse of the game (Where almost everything goes to). After reading your reply, it makes me wonder… Did the Elder Dragons and Gods come from the mist?

The gods, maybe, it’s save to say, they reside in the Mists and they have a certain degree of power over it.

The EDs are not from the Mists and they lack the ability to go there. Only some minions of Jormag managed to get into the Mists by capturing the Wolf Havroun.

I personally think this is the reason of the god’s silence. The EDs basically consume magic and the human god’s are magical beings, meaning they could potentially be eaten by a ED. However they have the ability to go into the Mists, which the EDs lack, so they can hide there and wait until the threat is dealt with. They are basically helping humanity and the other human races, by not risking to make the EDs even stronger than they are.
I also think mosts of the animal spirits went into the Mists after owl’s death, only 4 stayed to guide the Norn, minimizing the risk of the EDs getting even stronger by consuming them.
Just my personal theory though.

Edit: Forgot to mention, not all spirits are lost, besides the big 4, minotaur is also still running around and maybe wurm too.

Whoah. Thanks again! This is getting me more and more interested in the lore of GW2 than I already am

In the center you can recognize Tyria and Elona, in the south Cantha. As you can see there are more continents that curently are unexplorable, they even don’t have a name (yet).

Riselight [WvW] – Elementalist
Smough The Cruel [WvW] – Warrior

Are there any other continents present in the world of Tyria?

None of which the name is known, but a map found in the GW dat presents 2 other continents and two large island chains (with about 3 smaller island chains) other than the Tyria/Elona supercontinent (which is huge) and the Canthan continent.

Map can be found here.

(Edit: I see the image got linked already)

Hare is also running around. Only Wolverine, Eagle, and Ox have unknown states, and these three fought Jormag with Owl. The other eight known Spirits of the Wild are known in their states – Wurm still blesses those who call upon it, Hare is mostly believed to not exist by norn but does help out now and then, Minotaur had been missing for a while but recently reappeared, of course Owl is dead, and then you got the big four who are constantly guiding norn.

I see… Btw, in regards to the spirits, are they closely related to the gods or are they something else?

Humans believe they serve Melandru, however we know Raven holds power of some degree over the Underworld (Grenth’s domain), and norn disagree with the belief that the Spirits of the Wild are beneath the human gods, but instead put them on par – calling the Six Gods “Spirits of Action” (and as such referring to their action – e.g., War instead of Balthazar, Knowledge instead of Kormir, probably Growth, Beauty, Death, and Life for the others).

It’s fairly up in the air though, what the real situation is.
