Could Menzies be the Mad King Thorn after all Menzies is called Menzies the Mad and like Menzies he seems to support Nightfall(the website said Mad King Thorn wanted to celebrate Nightfall by visiting Elona) and his disappearance from Tyria could come from him taking a direct role in his war against Balthazar and his return is because of him winning against Balthazar and avenging his father just like Grenth avenged his father against Dhuum(Grenth letting Menzies out of his cell if he’s Mad King Thorn despite allying with Abbadon would come from emphasizing with Menzies’s goal and as a reward for aiding in the war against Abbadon’s other ally Dhuum).

Nope. Because the Shadow Army doesn’t look like candy people and vice versa.

And yet the Shadow Army has the Krytan symbol(and I don’t mean the Royal symbol depicting a griffon I mean the other symbol) on their backs just like the White Mantle has on their capes

Well, given that menzies is half-brother of balthazar, which suggests he´s pretty powerful being to begin with, and that Thorn, perfectly normal and mortal even if a bit mad, was lynched by a mob when he was alive….well i think it unlikely.

Thorn was a human king that lived around or after the time of 300 AE. Menzies is Balthazar’s half-brother (indicating he might be a half-god like Grenth was originally). Furthermore, Menzies is an ally of Dhuum – an enemy of Thorn.

I want to make a few corrections:

1) Grenth did not revenge his father. This is player speculation.
2) The Shadow Army having the White Mantle symbol is irrelevant. They’ve been confirmed to be unrelated. Furthermore, even if there was a connection, the White Mantle are enemies of the royal family which Thorn is of.
3) Thorn does not celebrate Nightfall. He celebrates Halloween (known to Tyrians as Mad King’s Day). Nightfall was a prophecized event in which Abaddon was to return and break free from his prison – a one time event, not yearly like Mad King’s Day.

Grenth’s father was apparently the sculptor who made the statues of the gods, at least thats what an agent of the Order of Whispers hinted at in one of my characters personal story lines. Being human he eventually died. And Dhuum wouldn’t let him come back. That may have annoyed Grenth.

That is false. Malchor sculpted the original statues of gods and was the only one to their true being. Go to Divinity’s Reach to Grenth’s statue and see what’s written there.

“Grenth I feared the most, for in gazing upon him I saw my own end. But Grenth also embodies inevitability, the idea that all things have a time…and that time must inevitably pass.” – Malchor

Really, which personal storyline? Are you referring to the one where you go to the Cathedral of Silence and summon one of the Seven Reapers? If so, Priestess Rhei isn’t a member of the Order of Whispers, and she merely states “mortal sculptor” – nothing indicates Grenth’s father was human unless you mean a different storyline that no one else apparently brought up yet.

@Killyox: There’s easily over a dozen means to explain why a statue of Grenth – never outright said to be designed by Malchor – holds a quote from Malchor about Grenth. Considering that he met Dwayna first (she was the one who commissioned Malchor), it’s fairly possible. We don’t know how long those statues took – could easily have been years before he worked on Grenth’s (who could have been second to last), nor do we know Grenth was among those gods he sculpted instead of Dhuum (the only thing that says Grenth was, was an out-of-game second-hand revealed story of Malchor originally written in French and claiming Kormir was among the gods at the time rather than Abaddon).
