“The protomatter that makes up the Mists strains toward creation, often spawning demonic creations in nightmarish forms. Not all creatures from the Mists are demonic, however. When the Mists come into contact with a suitable human template, for example, it can copy that form, creating a sentient entity with humanoid appearance and an almost human mind.

Razah is one such creation. It has sprung into being a fully-formed adult. It has the knowledge and capabilities of a human, but lacks common sense. As a result, it asks odd questions about human emotions, contemplates human motivations, and attempts to duplicate human mannerisms. Razah is a contradiction: more than human in some ways, and less than human in others. It needs an identity, a personality, and a purpose. Hopefully, it will find its purpose by working with a hero. Otherwise, it could degenerate into an abomination as monstrous and inhuman as its demonic brethren."

So Razah is no real human, but a creation from the Mists using a human template. Could it be that Razah is still alive or maybe even became an abomination? There hasn’t been a single note about Razah in Guild Wars 2. This might change with HoT’s coming of the revenant, which is by lore someone who has been to the Mist.

Razah is one of the GW1 characters that might indeed still be around, together with characters like M.O.X., Livia and Lazarus the Dire.

Going to the Mists isn’t exactly unusual though, so I don’t know about the Revenant’s introduction facilitating Razah’s reintroduction. However, assuming that Razah’s cells are not subject to the same failure to take care of waste that others are (aka, mortals), then he should be able live forever, yes. Hm… I guess if he’s still connected to the Mists, the source of all things, then it could potentially renew him continuously, thereby making him immortal.

Any class is easy to play, but not as easy to master. So sod off, warrior-haters.

Razah should not be able to age due to being a Entity of the Mist so he should be still alive assuming nothing bad happened to him between GW1 and GW2.

Back in GW1 Razah mentioned Abaddon had trapped him in the Gate of Anguish for centuries so by GW1 he was already hundreds of years old. Among that it appears Razah does not become hungry so he can spend centuries without food and water.

Only question now is did Razah developed into something Human or did he become a Demon.

While it’s hard to argue the aging of demons (aka entities of the Mists), its far from certain to fall them unaging.

However we do know that many demons are capable of living hundreds and even thousands of years. So there is a good chance of Razah surviving (he is, in fact, one of 4 heroes from GW1 that are likely to still live in some form – the other three being M.O.X., Ogden, and Livia).

Dear ANet writers,
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.

I kind of question how does Razah remain unnoticed for such a long time from GW1 to GW2 timeframe. Each Henchman and Hero has some mention on their fate except for MOX and Razah.

There is not even a small mention of him in GW2 current nor any subtle hints of him any where. Not even the Durmand Priory have any records of Razah.

I’m assuming Ogden may remember him but I’m a bit surprised there is no mention of him considering Ogden shared his knowledge of each GW1 Henchman and Heroes with the Priory.

Guess there are still some secrets he keeps to himself.

Not even remotely true! Devona, Lina, Claude, Dunham, Zho, Lo Sha, Herta, Xandra, Kahmu, Hayda, and, as you say, MOX: none receive any mention in-game, and that’s just the Prophecies and Eye of the North group. Add in Factions or Nightfall characters like Razah, who may have never set foot on the Tyrian continent, and the list balloons further.

In truth, most only have a mention from armor sets. A lot don’t even have graves unless I’ve missed them. I know the Ebon Falcons have there graves at Ebon Hawke, along with Nicolas and Yakkington, Gwen and Kieran. I’ve not see the graves of any Hero’s or henchmen from GW1. But I may have missed them.

I wasn’t counting armor sets, since the lore value there is debatable. Most of the ones who did find a spot are from books in DR, or for EotN heroes, monuments among their people.

As for graves, Alessia, Reyna, and Little Thom all have headstones at the Granite Citadel. Anton has one next to the Battle Pit in Gendarren, which raises some timeline questions. Stefan is encountered as a ghost at Grendich in the charr personal story. As you said, Gwen (though not Kieran) has a marker in Ebonhawke. And… while I might be forgetting one or two, that’s pretty much it.

The graves of henchman can be found in the Shiverpeaks.
In the Spearhead Bane you’ll find the graves of GW1 Henchman.

The graves in Spearhead Bane are…..
Alesia, who was a healer henchman.
Hagen, who was an armorer.
Hagnon Warblade, who collected frosted griffon wings.
Hoknil the Lesser, who collected azure remains.
Little Thom, who was a brawler henchman.
Makar Thoughtslayer, who collected dredge manifestos.
Merin Trollsbane, who collected mountain minotaur tusks.
Reyna, who was an archer henchman.
Tharn Stonerift, who was a monk henchman.
Volsung, who was a merchant.
Kilroy Stonekin, who was a famous brawler.

Stefan can be found as a Boss in Charr Personal Story for Loyal Soldier revealing he went back to Ascolan after losing a drinking game against Kilroy Stonekin and is now one of the Ascalonian Ghost due to being hit by the Foefire

Ah… hate to say it, but almost everyone on that list were just background characters. Armorers and merchants were armorers and merchants, they just all had names in GW1. Collectors were… the closest GW2 equivalent would be heart vendors. Either way, with the exception of Reyna, Little Thom, Alesia, and Kilroy (not a henchmen but a recurring character- maybe along the lines of a dynamic event starter or ‘activity’ NPC) they just stood around and gave you stuff for other stuff.

Why would he be evil? He accompanied the GW1 hero for an unknown amount of time (at least five years if he stayed with the PC for Eye of the North to Winds of Change). That was the “find its purpose by working with a hero” bit alluding to.

Whoo boy. How do you guys even find these to necro? I know for a fact the search function can’t do it.

Anyway, I’m assuming you’re responding to the original question there, but nothing in that says he might still be alive. If lack of purpose bestowed immortality, half the human population would never die.

That doesn’t square with his character. Razah was curious about humans. Heck, that was the start and end of his personality traits. I cannot fathom that he would willingly avoid them for two hundred years because… well, why, exactly?

Right. Chances are that after Razah and the GW1 PC separated (be it due to death of the later, disagreement, or retirement that left Razah wanting more, or something else), should Razah have survived any battles in the 250 years (being a demon he’d likely live over a thousand years given the nature of some demons in GW1 being as old as the Exodus), then he likely would have found other – even if temporary – traveling companions.

Necromancy as an art tends to find the deepest most hidden secrets of life and death

As far as Razah, only reason he’d stay alone is if he were locked somewhere. I’d imagine he plays a similar role to Ogden, except in Elona, maybe working with the Sunspears or similar.

He is/was curious about human nature, both the good, and the bad. Depending on the humans he spent the most time with, he could just as easily become a force of “evil”.

I could also see him playing a role of support to Kormir as well, though less likely.
